@xerz Private DNS supports DNS-over-HTTPS but doesn't yet have the feature flag enabled for DDR support to use it with arbitrary providers. It's available as a feature but it has to be enabled in the build. It depends on the experimental asynchronous Private DNS. You can try enabling it via ADB shell if you want to try it.

At a glance it looks like all the individual pieces are at most a couple dollars. This could add up, but I should be able to deliver something very cheap.

If it weren't for cellular modems! These will be necessary to make it compatible with existing phones, but to the extent their prices are public they're expensive! SIgh.
