Fedizen.net is a Bonfire instance specifically geared towards the promotion, development, and celebration of the Social Web. This server is operated by We Distribute a small non-profit publishing company that focuses on news, culture, and media around the space.

Data Policies

Our platform utilizes ActivityPub federation as its specific means of communication and reach across a decentralized social network consisting of thousands and thousands of servers, built by many volunteers. and largely operated interdependently between a large variety of different groups of people. While we strive to fully respect individual digital sovereignty, some aspects of a public decentralized communication medium reach beyond our abilities

Data Processors

The following list of data processors is assembled to the best of our ability, with the full extent of our knowledge.

DreamHost - provides our Virtual Private Server on which our Bonfire instance operates
Sentry - We utilize Sentry for debugging and error monitoring purposes. Errors thrown by our application stack get automatically anonymized and submitted to our Sentry instance, and provides an application stacktrace showing where and how and error was thrown, and where a process broke down. Aside from basic context regarding which logged in user triggered an error, we do not store personal information or user data within Sentry.
Cinch MailJet - For the purpose of sending automated emails for things like user registration and password recovery, we make use of the MailJet service as part of our infrastructure.
Bonfire - Technically, our platform can be considered a data processor itself, given its nature as a social communications system. We leverage ActivityPub federation on an organic server-to-server basis, but do so on the basis of user interactions, not automation. Our instance follows best practices regarding established Fediverse user consent practices, such as honoring opt-in flags for a user being searchable or discoverable.
