I'm not normally one to comment on celebrity deaths, but...god damn. I had been fearing this day for a long time. Patrick Stewart was, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest actors of all time, if not the greatest. No matter what role he played, he always nailed it.
I was honestly just hoping he would be around forever.
I started playing #Deltarune for the first time recently, and I'm honestly blown away. Working through Chapter 2 already, and I'm loving the humor and the character development.
Suzie is hilarious and amazing.
One of the main complaints the so-called "AI Art" community makes about traditional art involves the prospect of commissioning artists for their work. A lot of these people complain about time and money spent, and liken the process to a scam.
I think the main problem here is that these people purely view art as a product, whereas human-made art is a process.
Really cool and powerful machine. The price tag is not cool

Spectra has been updated to the latest #PeerTube security release of 8.3.2. Thanks for bearing with us!
Fedizen has been updated to 1.1.0-beta.21! There should be some improvements in some of the logic behind groups and the social UI, as well as Mastodon client support. While it's difficult to detail every little change, hopefully some quality-of-life adjustments will be noticeable!
If you think your day is bad: my wife accidentally stepped in shit inside of a Walmart today.
First impressions of Bonfire aren't great. Primarily the interface. By default I'm dumped into the "Home" feed which is comprised of...nothing I've opted into. I want the default view to be "following" but I can't seem to get that changed. It seems like maybe this is intended for the server host to feed info to the user rather than the user finding what they want to see, maybe for corporate use, and that's a big no-no for me.
"Groups" show comments from communities in the feed, with no context, instead of their posts. On top of that, the server can't even seem to accurately sort posts chronologically. See attached images. It thinks a video that was uploaded 2 months ago was actually added 12 minutes ago. It's also not registering their profile photo.
Harmony is an #ActivityPub powered Discord and Matrix alternative that mixes chatrooms with social networking. It's amazing.
Really great insights from A New Social. On the one hand, I'd be thrilled to have proper Nostr bridge support, but I'm glad that this organization is thinking from a Trust & Safety perspective.
This is heartbreaking for us Mass Effect fans, but it's not exactly surprising. Bioware has been struggling for a long time now. It just sucks to see a legendary studio close their doors for good. Fuck EA.
Time to upgrade my Ubuntu desktop again today. I wonder what will break? 😀
I really hate how slow my WordPress installation has become on WeDistribute.org. I'm going to look into ways to clean things up / speed things up, but I'm definitely feeling annoyed about it.
This week alone, I've discovered no fewer than 11 new #Fediverse platforms I've literally never heard of before.
There's a lot for me to share and write about!
I like PeerTube, and appreciate everything the developers have done to make it a better platform. It's actually relatively cheap and pretty easy to self-host it these days, but it's kind of a huge headache if you want to operate a large community instance.
I actually wish more creators saw the value in self-hosting.
Circle Up!
One of Bonfire's premiere social features is Circles, which is kind of like a hybrid between an Access Control list and a Mastodon collection. We've been testing this feature for a while, and one of the more interesting use-cases has involved creating Starter Packs for Discovery purposes.
Circles can also be used to create custom feeds in Bonfire, which we're continuing to experiment with. If you're using Fedizen, you can follow everyone in a circle at the click of a button!
Feel free to check out two of our public circles:

Let's go look for a job on BizzFed, the federated LinkedIn alternative!

I want to be @benpate@mastodon.social when I grow up. 🙂
Federated Groups!
Group functionality continues to mature for Bonfire Community, so I recommend that everyone ought to check out a group to join! I ended up joining Fediverse Memes from Feddit, but any group from Lemmy, NodeBB, MBin, or PieFed ought to work!
