@alexisbushnell Congrats! HOW?! :o
@thegiddystitcher well quite! And it was quick too.
I got on the Dental Access Portal a few months ago when I first heard about it.
The people and institutions I believed in are justifying shooting up a synagogue full of people, murdering Jews in the streets of DC and Denver, kicking Jews out of schools, firing them from jobs, vandalizing Jewish places of worship, businesses and homes and more.
Do I care about other issues- sure I do. But I'm not going to celebrate this.
You talk about the neo-Nazi parties and how dangerous they are- but *this is Nazism*.
The people that demand that I say "Oh well yes both sides would march me to the death camps, but one set of Nazis are worse than the other set." are the problem.
I’m reflecting on all the different types of people who won as Democrats tonight. Different genders, different races, different ethnicities, different sexual orientations. Differences in style and, to some degree, in substance. But all recognizably and clearly antifascist, pro-democracy, committed to pluralistic constitutional democracy, rule of law.
That commonality should not be taken for granted. It is the bedrock on which we can build a more just and livable country.
You hit the nail on the head regarding the Democratic victories,
"... all recognizably and clearly antifascist, pro-democracy, committed to pluralistic constitutional democracy, rule of law."
These are the things that Americans want.
As I heard one commentator say on msnow, "It wasn't a blue wave. It wasn't a tsunami. It was an asteroid."
Programming isn’t for girls, they told me, and I didn’t care. Programming isn’t for humans, they tell me, and do you think I fucking care?
Signal isn’t federated ^[1][2][3.1]^; it’s decentralized ^[1][2][3.2]^. Though, for all practical purposes, I would generally argue that it’s centralized.

Nothing about any of the protocols we’ve developed requires centralization; it’s entirely possible to build a federated Signal Protocol-based messenger, but I no longer believe that it is possible to build a competitive federated messenger at all. […] [interoperable protocols] [have] taken us pretty far, but it’s undeniable that once you federate your protocol, it becomes very difficult to make changes. And right now, at the application level, things that stand still don’t fare very well in a world where the ecosystem is moving. […] Early on, I thought we’d federate Signal once its velocity had subsided. Now I realize that things will probably never slow down, and if anything the velocity of the entire landscape seems to be steadily increasing. 2. ¶“Stuck in time”. “Federation and control”. ¶6. > An open source infrastructure for a centralized network now provides almost the same level of control as federated protocols, without giving up the ability to adapt. If a centralized provider with an open source infrastructure ever makes horrible changes, those that disagree have the software they need to run their own alternative instead. It may not be as beautiful as federation, but at this point it seems that it will have to do.
Good news!
A nice chap has just called to tell me that my BMW is ready, and that they will be returning it to me today.
This is especially welcome as I do not have, and never had had, a BMW, so it must be a gift!
I wonder what colour it will be.
@neil How much did you have to pay to find out the colour? 😂
Merci beaucoup
Wow. Just 13 minutes.
The UPSs alone probably would have been fine.
@neil When we had ours done, we were told that power would go off.
A couple of hours in I asked when they would be doing the power off, only to be told they’d already done the work and wouldn’t need to touch the power.
We do not have a UPS or generator…

For the uninitiated, if you were wondering what a Gordie Howe hat trick was.
@mike we will all go through walls for this kid. Not only is he spirited, he seems to be a strong leader, and is always just so grateful and passionate about being in the big game. May he never lose that.
OK now here are the same options but I'm asking, when limited to these choices, which of the following mattered most to you personally?
(you don't need to be able to vote in US elections to participate in either poll, I'm curious what everyone thinks about both.)
@futurebird This poll blows my mind because 'corruption in government' is way to mild for what your country has been experiencing. 'Treacherous government' in the literal sense comes a bit closer.
@georgetakei If he went?

You can swing an election more than a billionaire buying ads by manning the snacks table at phone bank night.
They spent SO MUCH MONEY and lost lost lost. The money doesn't work, so there is no need to chase and be polite to the people who hand it out.
Maybe be nice to Shirley at the snacks table instead. How about that?
I think that’s one of the more potent fax demonstrated by Angie Nixon’s campaign.
Because she was deliberately neglected by the DNC she ran a campaign of social networking like the physical kind of going out and recruiting people. I could’ve wished for her victory in Florida but damn she came close.
The Democratic Party is a hierarchy of fundraising and political consultant patronage. The consultants only make money by doing consultant things
Holy shit, I just got allocated an NHS dentist!
Which deity has blessed me in this manner. Whom do I owe a lifetime of gratitude to?
