Why am I so hard on liberals and the left, more than I am on the right?
I was told, for over 40 years of my life that the right are sinister: they lie, they cheat, they manipulate.
Case in point: Watch Fox News, listen to right wing radio or news.
The people who told me that were 100% correct. That absolutely does happen.
But the key issue for me is that they said "The big difference is we don't do that. We let the truth speak for itself."
And what I've come to learn is that this isn't true. I don't know if it used to be true but isn't anymore, but I know it's not true now. I see it, I see lies of omission, manipulation, and tokenization. I even see the kind of fear mongering that the right does.
Do I think the left is worse? Absolutely not! I'm still a Liberal (or what many would call Labour). But I'm heartbroken and angry at the left. I've been lied to and manipulated for someone else's cause.
And now I'm lost politically, picking up pieces wherever I can.
@serge that’s fully understandable (treachery hurts a lot more than known enmity), but dangerous.
EDIT: "picking up the pieces wherever I can" is what’s dangerous. I’ve seen that go wrong several times already (usually leaving to infiltration of hate into groups that seemed to be left). Sorry for being unclear about that.
