Maybe I'm really cheap by I object to spending 58p on each Tesco branded condom. It really adds up over a weekend. I wish Aldi did own branded condoms.
@fesshole take the savings where you can; zero times 58p is still a lot cheaper then zero times whatever a box of Durex costs

@dansup here is another one: https://fedidb.com/servers/zerocat.dev this server only has 5 (public) posts this month. and looking at the states I would say almost all that data is wrong. I mean there (could be) a lot of private communication but I highly doubt it.
@dansup this one is a relay: https://fedidb.com/software/activity-relay
this metric is totally unrelated to be mixed with other understandings of users
Lots of people saying Haley Stevens was paid to retract her endorsement at the last moment, but this is overcomplicating it. She's an ambitious person who probably feels like she had her dream job just taken away from her by "these people" and "this guy" just out of nowhere.
This whole thing is messy and probably won't have much impact on the election itself. It's too late.
She's just mad.
It's all very dramatic.
@futurebird I'm confident a good part of what makes it personal is that she's a racist
I discovered a sound that leaks your exact location (and it's everywhere) - https://simonwillison.net/2026/Nov/3/a-sound-that-leaks-your-exact-location/ "Genius piece of #OSINT by Colsto, who demonstrates how you can take almost imperceptible background noise of planes from a video soundtrack, figure out their Doppler curves, then cross reference them against ADS-B data to find the exact location of the video based on their speed, distance, and gaps between different flights." #whoa
@glynmoody A good reminder that the giveaway isn't only in the file's metadata, it can be in the background noise. Most privacy advice tells people to check what's in shot, not what's in earshot. Anyone publishing video should probably add that to their checklist.
It arrived too late for Halloween, but never mind!
@neil There's always next year.
@root @bright_helpings "It had 126,592 unique users within 24 hours of going up, and had terabytes of bandwidth in usage"
terabytes, for text fiction

@orange_lux ugh, j’ai l’original sans voir qu’il manquait l’alttext, ce qui m’arrive rarement. C’est le signe qu’il,faut faire la #sieste.
On the one hand, I'm glad I didn't go to the trouble to move my main email to Proton.
On the other hand, GMail ain't better.
@smolwaffle want help setting up NixOS mail server?
like many of you, i didnt really get into Music Music until i was about 14 or 15. before then, i was only interested in video game music. the reason? probably just that normal songs do not loop. deep down maybe i still believe that non-looping music is inferior to the kind that goes on forever. the fact that music has to end has always seemed like a technical limitation
@jk I agree with the last part.
do not charge these cells to 4V that is a very bad plan

Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for alternatives on Reddit; maybe worth pointing to BookWyrm and NeoDB?
Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for... #fediverse #goodreads #bookwyrm #neodb #rssfeeds
Both fediverse softwares that support user reviews for books, both have RSS support natively (no Piefed/Misskey bridge needed), and some comments also seem discontent with Amazon's mismanagement overall.

This is the kind of funding the Fediverse actually needs. Better tools are great, but without people making things worth watching or listening to, we’re just building increasingly elegant infrastructure for arguing about infrastructure. Pairing creators with developers is a genuinely smart move.

Fantastic idea but I have always thought that more than a lack of tools, the problem is the cost of hosting in the case of development, and the difficulty of monetization in the case of peertube-type content creators. But hey, it’s my idea, maybe I’m wrong and projects like this are sure to help a lot.

Haben wir das so lange übersehen?
@liaizon that is an interesting idea, I like the idea of a public audit log where the community replaces MAU or other stats (with moderator approval). I will add this to my todo list.
We do have detection that automatically blocks servers that report a delta greater than a threshold, but this was under that.
