@pixelfed Wow, the new Pixelfed app (v2.0) is incredibly fast now. 🚀 Everything feels smooth.
The improvements — including on the backend — are clearly noticeable. Great job!
I wish there were a landscape mode for the feed with a two-column (smartphone) or multi-column (tablet) layout. But maybe that’ll come at some point. 😉

Messaging platforms should ship as closed as possible by default and allow the operator to open up as desired.
We don't need to limit humans registering and posting, we need to monitor rate limit excesses, abnormal/inauthentic activity and limit /that/.
Spam will never end, taking an 80/20 approach may not work so well going forward if the 20 is billions of posts, but all platforms need to find ways to mitigate the never-before-seen levels of spam we know are coming.

@julian I have with mbin and Mastodon always approval required by administrator enabled. Before a new account can be used.
And I also enable that login is required to see the content.
Today we have so many spam it's not just Ai agents. And logging is is required to avoid scraping by all the (Ai) bots.

Y'all this is some COOL-ASS-SHIT! Wanted to get into @spritely tech but you didn't use emacs or didn't run Guix or all those other things? What if there was a structural editor right in the browser that was *designed* for hacking on @spritely tech?
Well that's EXACTLY what @dthompson is working on! I gave it a test today and built this cool picture language demo, printing out a rainbow right at the REPL!
It's a structural editor! So you're not even editing text, you're editing the structure of the code itself! It's damn cool!
