Today is one of those days where several different projects have converged at @spritely. In 2024, @cwebber made a federated relay system for OCapN. In 2025, I made a prototype of a local-first chat program that does CRDT data sync over OCapN. Over the past few months, @tsyesika has added end-to-end encryption to the relay system. And just now, at last, @tsyesika and I had an end-to-end encrypted chat using two relays that federate over Tor and it all just worked!!! its-happening.gif
@autumnwinds for the record, 1) i love typing on a desktop PC and doing things on a desktop PC, 2) i don't like using a smartphone at all, 3) i used a mac for ten years as my daily driver, but i don't use one anymore, and 4) i'd love to throw my phone into a lake one day and 5) i hate iOS and android, and i hate my phone, and want to throw it into a lake. maybe one day

It's been just over two weeks since I badgered my shrink to supply me with HSV antivirals for my Ménière's disease and I've not had one serious episode since the second day. As a reminder, I'd been getting "lie down and close my eyes because that's literally all I can do to stop the vertigo" episodes roughly every two days for two months prior.
Apparently it's important to do this protocol within two years of getting Ménière's or it's less effective. And it doesn't seem to work for younger cases (it's considered idiopathic - of unknown origin and just a set of symptoms, so there can be multiple causes).
This is not a scientific study, IANAD, etc. But it seems to work for me.

Seriously, I really really like that first thing when viewing a Wafrn profile with custom theming for the first time, it asks you if you want custom theming enabled or not.

I get that customization can lead to accessibility issues, unpredictable glitches, and/or vulnerabilities, but I really think that custom theming should be a bigger focus than pushing a major UI redesign on users.
Also the ability as the user viewing another's profile to disable custom theming, as I've seen in Wafrn, for example.

If I ever were to self host an instance for myself I wonder if I'd use chuckya or wafrn. Does wafrn let you server-side disable the "feature" that connects to the nazi website?
