@Kiloku Provisional ballots have nothing to do with whether there’s early voting. A provisional ballot is used when there is some problem that prevents a voter from casting a regular ballot (such as not being on the voter registration list, or a question about their identity). This allows people who would otherwise be turned away to vote and then clear up the problem.

Just confirming that I have the same thing as described by all of you. 6 seconds on my phone, but on computer it's 14 seconds. but 6 if I download it.

I have seen this happen before:

On my phone, I used to just use a browser. Sometimes I saw a gif I couldn't identify, but later on my computer I noticed it was longer. I looked back at my phone, it was still short. Even viewed on original server.

Now I use tusky on my phone, and it's the same thing. For this GIF it's the 6 seconds. I can't "view original server" using tusky, but I can view from my 3 separate accounts. all same.

But when I go to my computer, it's the 14 seconds. Even though I looked at it later. I do keep a tab open on my computer, so maybe it already loaded? But it's still 14 sec even if I open original server in a private window.🤔

So I still don't know how the computer is getting the full version.

But like I said I have noticed this before. so it's not an isolated incident.

"Fiery hard-liner" is #BrokenTimes-speak for fascist.

@mattblaze
I voted with a provisional ballot 40 years ago in Canada. After all, it was the govt that screwed up and left me off the voters list (I had even checked the list posted on a power pole near my house). And it was a completely painless procedure.
They would have counted my vote only if the number of provisional votes was greater than the margin of votes for the winner, which making sense.

@sackofbones @MaddieM4 fascism is basically the homeopathy of biology: that is, to believe in it, you must reject, without evidence, some of the central theories that underpin much of the modern understanding of the field

(Saying this as a chemist, so maybe "the homeopathy of evolution" is more appropriate; but specifically, homeopathy is based on the belief that "water remembers" and so water that has been exposed to a harmful substance will have a memory of it and somehow doing serial dilutions of water that had a substance in it will enhance the water's _impact_ on your health. This is nonsense and in direct contradiction of literally anything and everything we know about water and chemistry. Likewise, fascism explicitly rejects that biological, psychological, neurological, social, etc, diversity is good, instead saying that their explicit vision of genetics and culture is the only way to survive. But in complex systems, such as biological or social ones, diversity is a STRENGTH: a system that overspecializes is prone to crashing when the underlying conditions necessary for survival change. A system that is constantly exploring what is possible, however, is a system that can adapt to change, and therefore the best way to ensure a culture or species survives is to constantly explore the boundaries on as many as axes as possible).

So in a very real way, these dipshit fascists sucking at scientific logic and reasoning is a fundamental aspect of their entire belief system. Ironically, you could not choose a WORSE singular vision of humanity to survive than theirs.

So apparently this is a thing that they are doing, in violation of their own Terms Of Service (which they link to the in very email). The email says you have 72 hours to respond, while the TOS clause says that you have 5 business days. Lots of people getting fucked over by this: https://www.reddit.com/r/NameCheap/comments/1x8t2qj/namecheap_account_suspended_18_business_domains/ https://www.reddit.com/r/NameCheap/comments/1xajqnu/4_days_with_my_namecheap_account_locked/

If you have a domain with #namecheap, you should probably transfer it out.. like, yesterday.

This seem to stem from a misunderstanding. Lemmy and Mastodon have different goals. Users of each generally don’t want the other’s content generally showing up en masse.

If you want to see something from Mastodon, you can usually get it on Lemmy, and vice versa. I don’t often see Mastodon posts either, but that’s because I only follow Lemmy communities, so I only see them when someone on Mastodon tags a Lemmy community in their post. If you want to see more Mastodon content, see if you can follow some users or hashtags from Lemmy.

But that might not be supported; I haven’t tried. If you prefer Mastodon, I’m pretty sure that you can follow Lemmy communities from there.

Working on a serialization format system with an S-expression-based IDL, an S-expression-based textual value definition language, and a compact binary wire format...

Planning on making it as nice to use from Rust as Postcard is with a derive macro and everything, but with an encoding which makes it possible to evolve schemas backwards-compatibly like cap'n proto and protobuf

#rust #postcard

I'm not sure what Register saw in Puffy, either - their music is pretty decent, but nothing particularly exceptional in the sea of idol talent in Japan. Rock-focused idols are at least a little more unique than pop-focused groups, but not by THAT much, especially in the 2000s when idol music greatly expanded in genre.

People are taking this democracy thing further than the Dem Party is comfortable with.

Should I continue with merephone, what hardware would I need/want?

* SAMD21 microcontroller
* cellular modem e.g. u-blox SARA-R410M-02B
* SD card & slot
* battery
* USB port (type B or C)
* solar panel (avoid a need to charge)

* buttons
* nav-switch
* 4-gray epaper display

* front-facing LEDs (in place of backlight, for nighttime use)
* ArduCam
* camera-flash LED
* NFC

* near-ear speakers
* louder speakers
* microphone
* headphone jack
* buzzer
And I hard someone wanted radio?

1/2

As I'm building the hardware I'm finding that I'm a total novice making novice mistakes. But I know enough to push through!

Regarding that sound system... I know that such cellular modems can stream phone calls on a I2S digital audio bus. Which I'd want to wire up near-directly to a selection of speakers/mics! I'd probably need a suitable DAC & ADC?

But how to choose good speakers for this project? Can I wire volume controls directly up to an amp? Can I get cheap radio?

2/2 Fin!

I'm seeing people who should know better claim that opposition to #HakeemJeffries and #ChuckSchumer is fanciful or just a social media phenomenon. WRONG. The Dem base wants leaders with guts and integrity, and groups with big constituencies like Sunrise Movement and @indivisibleteam are on the case.

I still often think about the fact that Aaron Swartz was only 14 years old when he helped develop RSS..

Imagine what he could give us when given the chance 🙏

RIP Aaron♥️
