@GhostOnTheHalfShell Never mind the stock report -- where are the charts for RAM prices???

@aesthr Ouf. So relatable, I wish you a quick recovery.

TNR: Calls to Replace Jeffries and Schumer Explode After Democratic Wins

If you think choosing tailwind forces you into a certain style of website, you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.

And you clearly haven’t just used AI for tests. I wonder if the source is closed because you know how obviously AI generated it would look if it was open source?

1. I can't connect to the internet because the DNS server of this hotspot is fucked
2. I can't write /etc/hosts to put the right IP locally because it's manages by NixOS
3. I can't rebuild my NixOS config because I don't have internet

Sometimes I REALLY want to set this distro on fire

lukewarm take, but I want people to stop saying they create "content". that's corpo-speak for feeding the machine. tell me what you make, what you love.

you're not a content creator, you're a filmmaker. video producer. funny-post-maker. actor. you are more than a generic noun. 🦊

It is a real shame that people think that this is vibecoded

we can’t see your source code but the copy on your transparency page sounds like LLM voice:

• “Your feed is people and communities, not advertising.”
• “This is a promise we keep in good faith, not a technical guarantee.”
• “Analytics let people see how their posts, profiles and communities are doing. This is everything they record, and nothing else.”
• “Eight promises:” […]

If you say you wrote some of the code by hand, cool, i don’t doubt it. But it’s still giving slop.

Also, charging money for a “plus” account on a centralized closed-source activitypub implementation is…

Lastly, it’s difficult to reconcile these two statements:

as a software engineer with over 15 years of experience

[…]

the core is closed for anti-abuse reasons

😭

@gurkenlabs I don't know. You could plausibly do this without "AI code assistants" by just hiring one single very motivated coder who has very specific knowledge concerning WPF.

I no longer trust anything which doesn't affirmatively ban "AI" contributions in its contribution rules, but if that's a problem then Pinta (the Linux art app I'm using now) is equally suspect.

@amsomniac Yeah, it seems like you need a pretty specific kind of setup for this to be exploitable.

But it's absurdly bad design, and yeah, turning off password login is one of the first steps when I set up a new computer...

Perplexity launches its own take on AI agents for work https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence/1028302/perplexity-teammates-ai-agents-work

Using an area map of districts and shading it according to the winner is grossly misleading.
Huge red areas in the Midwest that have very few house seats. But you get the impression of overwhelming Republican presence in the US. The NYT gives us a terrible example.
Using a square per seat gives you a much better representation. Most of the US districts are Democrat blue. AP has a great example.

So I’ve been saying when the AI bubble pops our lives will go back to normal.

The idea is at some point the price of hardware is going to come down.

You wanna know how many people been snapping up buckets of NUC or Mac minis to run their agents?

We might benefit from a lot of fire sales if we have anything left in the bank

NEWS! Guy Fawkes insists five million grains of gunpowder were a personal gift unrelated to his presence in Parliament https://newsthump.com/2026/11/05/guy-fawkes-insists-five-million-grains-of-gunpowder-were-a-personal-gift-unrelated-to-his-presence-in-parliament/

@famfo Frustrating. I usually end up doas mv /etc/hosts /etc/hosts.nix; doas cp -L /etc/hosts.nix /etc/hosts; doas chmod u+w /etc/hosts, and then editing it anyway.

(I should really make a shell function that does all this... I keep bringing it back from shell history...)

Your protest is...targeting Jewish businesses on the anniversary of Kristallnacht?

I think Free Palestine gave up hiding that they're a hate movement.
