Affirmations.
@HikerGeek @me_valentijn @SteveInVentura LOL I like reminding my Wilderness First Aid students that it takes about 6 months to starve to death. Calories are good (so you can think straight), but you aren't going to die right away from not eating, lol.
@HikerGeek @me_valentijn @SteveInVentura Water in the US west in summer is a "die today" kind of thing.

I think that water is the hardest thing to prep. Both your body and your food need it on a daily basis. It is also very heavy. Most Americans can coast on their fat for weeks. Without water you're done in a week or less.

The New York Times is a precision information warfare weapon. This is not hyperbole. They target specific stories and blow them out of proportion to assert maximum influence at critical moments.
This is only possible because of trust. Their ammunition is public trust. They build trust over time and then fire it in targeted attacks like the current Alaska ballot campaign.
Whenever you see something creditable from the NYT recognize they are simply rearming their trust stockpile.

I never saw Patrick Stewart at a convention and didn't come with him into direct contact in any way when working on #StarTrekPicard but there's one Patrick Stewart/Jean-Luc Picard related achievement that only I have ever made - find proof that Patrick Stewart exists in the #StarTrek universe. 1/10
Staring back at me on pages 354/355 of Volume I of the Annotated Shakespeare was none other than...a young and bearded Sir Patrick Stewart, playing Touchstone in the 1968 Royal Shakespeare Company production of "As You Like It"! I was awed and knew that I had discovered something extraordinary! 6/10

The other tactic employed by the New York Times is to give scant coverage to issues they want to suppress. For instance at the same time they are flogging the Alaska ballot story, they are studiously ignoring the new revelations concerning Trump rape, Epstein money, and Kushner payoffs.
The net effect is to normalize extreme issues to protect allied perpetrators and incite action against those they target.

Would you give up Wi-Fi and cellphones for four days of this?
I rode Via Rail's The Canadian from Vancouver to Toronto, a 4,406-kilometre odyssey over Rockies, prairies, and muskeg.
For most of the ride, we were off the grid, in 70-year-old railcars.
It was one of the most peaceful... 🧵
