Heard @WFMU spinning a bunch of #DonnieIris tunes so I searched and unfortunately the dude passed last Thursday. I saw him when he opened for #TheRomantics circa 1980, got his debut album the next day and found it full of clever, well-crafted pop-rockers with a hint of #NewWave and a helluva voice. Later learned that he had quite a career even before that debut. So long, God bless, and thank you for the music 🙏🕊️ ❤️ cc: @efd #Music #ClassicRock #RockAndRoll https://www.post-gazette.com/news/obituaries/2026/10/26/donnie-iris-pittsburgh-dies/stories/202610260040

Programming isn’t for girls, they told me, and I didn’t care. Programming isn’t for humans, they tell me, and do you think I fucking care?

I took way too many pictures of Summer at the beach today.
It was windy.
She retrieved my hat several times.
The sun was intermittent.
What a joy to spend an hour on the beach with a happy dog.

After the reporting on Proton CEO Andy Yen pushing AI on workers and broader issues at the company last week, Proton employees are pushing for their colleagues to unionize and make sure Yen is held to account.

More info here: https://molecule.build

Binance on how they lost 6.3 BILLION dollars:

The 0-day malware was not detected by the endpoint security protection tools at the time.

No. There is no such thing as "0-day malware". You had two employees who got convinced to download and execute malware, which happened to be undetected by whatever magic protection you believed in.

"0-day" is not a term you sprinkle into your words to convey "It's not our fault"

@intrepidhero @T2R @StumpyTheMutt Thanks... Abrasion resistance is extremely poor for the commercial (not intended for outdoor use? lol) Jansport. Probably designed as a book bag/fashion accessory.

I just heard that some ridiculously rich guy named Sam thinks my ownership of stuff I purchased with money I made from my own work is inefficient.

He wants me to give up my property to a central organization that owns all the property and decides who gets to use it.

Huh. Sounds like how the former USSR worked. And cults.

🇺🇸! If you haven’t gotten to the polls yet, please drop everything you can to get your ass there. Early as possible. If someone tells you the polls have closed while you’re in line, Press on. (You can still vote as long as you arrive b4 close.)

Massachusetts! 🚨

NO on 3!! (if you still need to vote)

I’m very aware that this doesn’t by itself secure us a future, but it *obviously* matters. Or they wouldn’t be spending $$$$ to confuse folks and stop people from having their votes count.

Ooh, my remix of @socool's dreamnumber9 kicks off the new Scrambled Beats mix.

Lovely show with lots of chilled tunes...

Last week, the Court of Arbitration of Sports ruled that Russia should be allowed to play in the ice hockey world championship held in Germany next year.

As a result, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Latvia, and the Czech Republic has now said they will not enter the ice in any match against the Russian team.

This is the way! ✊🏼

I should point out, also, that the sniffing of Peanut the dog will never be satisfied.

There is a cat living there now and I expect that will be a heady aroma for quite some time!

Also he will have some remnants from my late Mum to sniff as we will be taking some furniture and soft furnishings from the old house.

He already goes bananas looking for her when I take him over there. This hurts me a lot so I no longer take him. I have to go over about 2-3 more times to arrange things then it will be dealt with and "in the past".

I promise you all some whimsy and silliness again in the new year!!

See timeline for a recent Peanut the dog silly pic!

@wizzwizz4 @bkim Thanks for your faith in me!

System Fω really seems like it... Semantically Alonzo's barely any different!

@ai6yr @T2R @StumpyTheMutt oh I see you were talking packs. Ultra weave is the state of the art and fixes the abrasion issues.

The German govt is rolling out a digital driver's license:

https://www.heise.de/news/Digitaler-Fuehrerschein-kommt-Ende-November-11509430.html

And, from day 1 - in 2026, yes - it only works on OS images allowlisted by two American companies, Google and Apple. Sanctioned by the US government, like e.g. the ICC judges? Can't use your _German_ digital driver's license.

In any sane society this would have been flagged as a massive issue and have simply stopped the app from launching in the first place.
