With Daylight Saving Time ending, I've just updated the omg.lol Office Hours page (https://home.omg.lol/office-hours) with the latest schedule. Note that depending on where you are in the world, your usual session time may have shifted by an hour. Sorry! I've also updated the calendar feed (linked from the same page) with sessions through the end of the year. See you in Office Hours!
Whenever I start a home improvement or DIY project, I immediately contact my best friend for advice knowing full well that within the hour, he will be at my door ready to take control while I make tea and pass him tools.
@fesshole so kind ya help him have something urgent to do ...
@siracusa Do you have any solution or mitigation for that?
@akrumeich Nope. I just keep hoping they’ll fix it someday.

My acupuncturist tucked my feet in a lil blanket at treatment today and I burst into tears, it's been so long since somebody touched me with kindness.
So if yer feeling like you can't do anything to make the world a better place, just be kind. It's powerful. These lil islands of kindness in a rough world are sanctuary.
(also pls share your random lil love bumps of kindness so I can vicariously enjoy and get my soul topped up ☺️)

largest bandwidth user with the big corporate bots out of the way appears to be someone's buggy and/or vibecoded video downloader script.. first sign of trouble was 1 visit to a 1 GB video downloading 10 GB.
Questioning whether someone is truly American because of their name or faith is an old and ugly tactic. On Tuesday, Michigan voters can reject it, and I hope they do. https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/trump-racist-islamophobic-midterms-abdul

You’re not alone in this wish, though I’m sure that doesn’t surprise you. I sort of accepted it as just part of how a federated reddit-style forum would work, but if there’s a way to address it, that would be very cool.

Piefed addreses that, as you can see in the other comments.

We kept trying. We thought maybe we could increase the price slightly, from the default 69p or whatever it was, but when we tried to ask for a couple of quid people said it was "too expensive". It felt like small game dev had been utterly devalued.
By the time we'd done this nine times my spirit was pretty much broken. And iOS was mutating even further, as the devaluation of paid game dev led to the mutant emergence of all the recurring paypoint trickery that is now so prevalent on mobile.
@llamasoft_ox Mobile gaming is not a sector that rewards integrity.

Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for alternatives on Reddit; maybe worth pointing to BookWyrm and NeoDB?
Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for... #fediverse #goodreads #bookwyrm #neodb #rssfeeds
Both fediverse softwares that support user reviews for books, both have RSS support natively (no Piefed/Misskey bridge needed), and some comments also seem discontent with Amazon's mismanagement overall.

Is there a way to not see duplicate of the same topic across different communities?
Hi everyone!
I’m really enjoying the Fediverse through Lemmy and Peertube.
One creator I enjoy and follow on the Fediverse is Gardiner Bryant as his content is really enjoyable.
Sadly he ´s the target of my post as he shares his content on many different communities that I follow.
Today I had 5 times the same topic on RetroDeck (great project too) on my feed on Lemmy (Voyager).
It is the same on PieFed (Interstellar).
This is really annoying and I haven’t found a way to not show these duplicates. Do you know about one or is it worked on?
Also when crossposting, it would be great if everything appeared under on post. Is it feasible?
Sorry if it’s easy and I just missed it. In a way I hope it is because it would mean that the Fediverse is festure rich😇
I put "popping corn" on my grocery list. Why? The UCP's AGM begins Friday evening, Nov 27. #abPoli
