Riverside County Fire Chief Lifts Suspension on Open Burning and Closure of Hazardous Hiking Areas Release Date: November 2, 2026 Perris, CA — Effective Monday, November 2, 2026, CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Chief Robert Fish is lifting the burn permit suspension and reopening designated Hazardous Hiking Areas throughout Riverside County. Residents with valid agricultural and residential burn permits may resume burning on permissible burn days. Agricultural burns must be inspected by CAL FIRE prior to burning until the end of peak fire season. Cooler temperatures, higher humidity, and recent rainfall have helped reduce wildfire danger. Residents conducting permitted burns are reminded to follow all regulations and maintain control of their fires. Individuals may be held civilly and/or criminally liable for fires that escape their control. “Improved weather conditions allow us to resume permitted burning and reopen our Hazardous Hiking Areas. However, wildfire remains a year-round threat, and we encourage everyone to remain vigilant and practice fire safety,” said Fire Chief Robert Fish.
