Take the 'Anybody But Schumer' poll...
@mastodonmigration More importantly, make yourself *eligible* to take the Anybody But Schumer poll by calling your Democratic senator(s) and telling them "anybody but Schumer"! (If you don't have a Democratic senator, I'm completely fine with you calling a Democratic representative + telling them "anybody but Jeffries.')
@glyph It's possible we should be thinking hard about trying to figure out what glitch in executive brains briefly allowed Bell Labs to exist. Was it the three-martini lunch? were c-suites just so fucking blitzed out of their minds they forgot to do a class war for a while there? is the trick to somehow get C*Os off of cocaine and back on alcohol? stimulants are the problem. depressants are the answer
Elon Musk moved SpaceX to red Texas. Now it's blue. What happens next?
"Data centers in space looking pretty appealing right now."

@arstechnica I want to watch him sink SpaceX by blowing billions on space data centers which absolutely will not work.
@jfew I’m not saying they’re right, I’m just saying what it looks like they’re deciding. (For now.) In particular, it was timed pretty well to Vance saying the war cost the GOP the election.
They’ve made this same decision before and been wrong, so.
@moira Sorry, didn’t mean to imply that was _your_ curious assumption. 😬 Markets seem to suffer from these mirages (or wishful thinking?) constantly as of late.
Half a billion dollars wasted. Inject that feeling straight into my veins. 😆
@carnage4life Break up X, tax Musk, and haul him into court.

News: Senator-elect Peggy Flanagan calls for new leadership of Senate Democrats
"I am tremendously grateful for Chuck Schumer's leadership … and I think it is time for new leadership," Flanagan said, repeating a campaign promise to support an alternative.

@mcc thanks for that context!
what platforms are these people typically using? the usual centralized corpo ones?
@r Mostly the corporate ones, mostly instagram and tiktok. Some of them are starting to do primary blogging on Threads or running mirrors on Bluesky, which is space for them to step out of the corporate shadow.
@systemsobscure you need ISO 7010 W005
@doktorzjivago @eq Håller tummarna!
Yeah that's right kid. Back in the day I had a hard drive that was on /dev/hda1
Not even /dev/sda1 I said hda that's right

Installed Slackware from a box of floppies on a spare 486

A shoebox of floppies. It had to be a shoebox. That was the only way you were allowed to keep them
Man måste få skryta ibland!
ugh I hate how many times this pattern happens:
1. clone repo
2. make a small change
3. try to run code, fails
4. what did I do wrong? time to back out my changes one by one
5. I back them all out
6. this code never worked in the first place
