Is Masayoshi Son a grifter or a genius?

@Techaltar Does this touch on the "goose is not valued" meme?
How am I so productive? I have two interns, Tuk and Jake.
Meet Jake. He's shipped 0 lines of code, and prefers to leave early (immediately) for early brunch and then plays with toys, but he inspires the rest of the team (ok, only me) to work even harder because of his woof ethic.
My advice, forget AI, get a 4 legged intern. Results are about the same 🤷
@fesshole You must have known when you married a ninja turtle that there would be certain complications.
@Rob_T_Firefly @fesshole when "cowabunga, dude" is one of your wedding vows, there might have been a sign this was coming
If you’re a francophone, you probably disagree that the second examples all rhyme, but you should hear how I say “misconstrue”.
@futzle 👀
@davidgerard dunno if it fits but maybe something for pivot? https://tldr.nettime.org/@tante/117563412850178430
@sstendahl for example, in the last year or so, i've had maybe five situations across 2-3 different distros where the GUI app that shipped with the distro which was supposed to help me configure something (display, sound, bluetooth) was either buggy, or else incapable of performing certain functionality, that the only way to set a sound setting, connect a specific game controller, or configure an external display, was via CLI, so the GUI app now shows wrong data since i was going behind its back
@sstendahl this makes me distrust the various distros' GUI apps enormously: they're poorly-tested, leaky abstractions over underlying subsystem APIs, and are probably just running the same commands i could be running myself, so i tend to prefer the CLI workflows since at least i can trust they will work to some extent. but then, of course, i can't ever remember what the CLI tools are named, or how to use them. just searching for a file can take me 15 minutes of googling. it's awful
Richard Dreyfuss should have died in Jaws not Robert Shaw. Dreyfuss's character is a complete arsehole. Shaw is the one who wins it all. Everyone would have enjoyed the movie more if Dreyfuss died instead.
@anon_opin Try reading the novel sometime, EVERY character is an asshole.
@aesthr When I got my psych degree many years ago, I wrote all my papers in MS Word, and MS Word--unless they removed the feature, I guess--supports citation references.
I can't imagine using a hallucination engine to "verify" the citations are correct.
@Azuaron it does, but almost nobody knows about it
The original source provides "BonkWave" and "Bonk Wave" as alternatives.
https://ravenation.club/@yoniden/110755450682334065
But, I guess language evolves. There's something kinda very #BonkWave about the fact we can't agree on how to write the name of the thing..
@keefmarshall @bazkie perhaps @sknob was actually singing
BonkWave is not Bonk Wave
Bonk Wave is not bonk wave
bonk wave is not bonkwave
...
kindly do the needful and revert to me the soonest

@aesthr I hope I'm not derailing too much, but these days I would advise that students try Typst instead of LaTex, especially if they don't need any special package.
@drmabuese I have tried that a few times when writing papers but I've always returned to LaTeX. To me it just wasn't there yet. Maybe in a few years
It is impressive how Ubuntu still has not released kernel updates for CVE-2026-98432 despite there supposedly already being proofs of concepts that work on LAN with mptcp enabled.
@phnt was fun manually patching all like 12 servers i'm running. the only one i didn't have to change was a debian one that has had the patch for weeks now

Does anyone in #Chicago or the environs thereof want a large supply of scrap #denim or other #fabric for #sewing or other crafting purposes?
I have plenty of scrap jeans and other damaged clothes that I could dump in a recycling bin. But reuse is better than recycling, so if anyone nearby needs textiles I could just give some away instead.
Boosts appreciated. It's a long shot, but I'm searching for the secret Chi-town sewing punks.
Rhyming in the fourth dimension!

![The same line in three different verses rhyme (debut, misconstrue [whoops found a typo], ingenue).](https://st0.ap-south-1.linodeobjects.com/st0/media_attachments/files/117/563/619/406/816/068/original/1bc78814c75210ee.jpeg)
@futzle always impressed. I’m lazy and usually happy with close enough rhymes 😅

My dogs were going CRAZY today and I walked outside to see what was up, and it was SEVEN VERY LARGE BIRDS PERCHED ON OUR ROOF. I thought it was amazingly cool. I don't know what birds they were other than VERY BIG
@ubersoft They're probably black vultures, but it's a little hard to tell.
