@lproven What's remarkable is the article manages not to mention Lisp even once.
@amoroso I am working to fix that this very moment.

Okay, I think I have negotiated a defensible truce with Kdenlive.
I am manually editing the documentid property in the files, to give them unique numbers:
777 = prefix for Lunatics, so I know it's one of mine
01 = "series 1"
01 = "episode 1"
0n = scene sequence number (TR=01 ... SF=07)
(00 for top level, 11 for end credits, main credits get a library #)
nn = role-based: 01 main, 02 sync, 11 desc audio, 2x for BTS extras
And THEN I am deleting the "storagefolder" property, because it isn't necessary. I don't see any way to do this in the GUI (the obvious thing, to set the radio button to "default" does not do it), so I'm just doing it in the file. Apparently, if you never changed the cache folder, this property is never added, and it seems to work fine to delete it.
That seems like the best option for portability, because it won't hard-code my own directory structure.
It does seem to be hard-coded, though -- it doesn't use the default location I set in the Kdenlive settings, but always $HOME/.cache/kdenlive.
But it'll do. #Kdenlive #Cachefiles

thought this sub would like it. from dragonchat.org/@Drayson/117520867951412980
idk if I can @ from lemmy to mastodon but I can try! @Drayson@dragonchat.org
also I thought this reply was pretty cool

IT-Sicherheit & Datenschutz unzureichend, gefährliche zentrale Datensammlungen, ePA-Dokumentenfriedhof: Gesundheit besser digitalisieren! https://background.tagesspiegel.de/gesundheit-und-e-health/briefing/neuausrichtung-der-digitalisierung-notwendig
@CCC
But thinking about it, the red flags were there.
@hacks4pancakes Since canceling a sub give you an opportunity to tell them why I’d suggest anyone looking, especially if you have some time before it expires, don’t be shy in telling them why.

Oleksiy @ gravitons festival | semi improvised & generative
Given the nature of Oleksiy’s setup, the live sets are semi-improvised and semi-generative and can move in different directions depending on the situation, which makes every live set unique.
SITKA is a music project of Oleksiy Hrachov. Oleksiy makes bass-heavy dubby electronic music with broken beats and a hint of industrial sounds, and plays it all live using hardware and modular synths.

RE: Proton
I am once again kinda tempted to start a tech co-op, but I always feel like starting new co-ops is like creating new standards (xkcd.com/927)
That being said, I do also have hella compute and storage I purchased in the before times (pre-AI-pricing)… Anyone think it’s a good idea? 😆
(And more importantly, would want to be a co-founder. That’s probably the most important step, but… I know some people, maybe there’s a desire to make it happen)
@jonah Like self-hosted @ente, @stalwartlabs etc under a coop? I'm definitely interested seeing that :)

I do think there are appropriate uses for this technology (I use LLMs in much the same way you do: occasionally, for solving specific problems that I'd otherwise be stuck on).
As I see it, the core problem with AI usage (specifically) is that a lot of people see a tool, and then assume the tool should be used on absolutely everything. "When you're holding a hammer, every problem looks like a nail" and so on...
(and I'm not necessarily blaming people on the "user" side so much as the "provider" side trying really really hard to get everyone addicted to smashing things with hammers so they can start charging for them)
...so now we stand amid the ever-increasing wreckage caused by a new tool, and it's entirely understandable to feel like the tool is what's causing all these new problems...
...but of course that just lets the billionaire owners of the tool-factories get away with it.
[/opinion]
@woozle @rpmik @crowdotblack Accurate and reflects what I am experiencing in a government agency in terms of hammer use. Unqualified people are using llms to write emergency plans that are... hot garbage to say the least. It is too easy for many folks to skip the time learning the basics and reach for the hammer. Yet is immediately telling when incompetent people create slop and pass it off as handiwork.
The answer of whether to use a tool or not becomes not 'can you', but 'should you'. Either people have their own use cases, the "I use AI for..." Or they avoid it altogether. I ask my team and colleagues: Is the cognitive debt worth it? Could you have created a meaningful connection to solve that problem collaboratively?
I'm looking forward to when more advanced models can run locally on hardware and independent of the megacorps. It's just too bad that these corps are burning up our limited resources to make the SuperHammer. Not to mention driving up our bulk electric rates for my state by double-digit percentages for the last two years running...

CoMaps
Really hope we will be able to review places directly in the app one day. Im not a big fan of MapCompletes UX. This is a really cool feature and I already made some reviews.
now's the time to write that unhinged fanfic, instead of reading one
Does anyone have any good recipes, please?
Don’t apologise for talking/venting and sharing what you are feeling on here. Men generally don’t and that’s a bad thing as we can hide how we are really feelings quite well.
Just know that there are lots of us out here who care. (2/2)
