congrats to the folks in serbia and brazil on getting rid of an asshole party in power and preventing an asshole gaining power respectively
I’m conflicted by this idea that I just came up with, but it's a media delivery service like Netflix that is technically free, but there are ads so you can decide if you want to skip that specific ad by paying a fee (let's say $1 for every "skip").
@Alice PlutoTv
Wow, this is pretty astounding. 48% of practicing Christians say they would “trust AI with their spiritual growth.” 44% of Millennials say that AI’s spiritual guidance is “as trustworthy as a pastor’s”.
It shouldn’t have surprised me that a group of religious people who are desperately seeking simple, clear, unambiguous answers to difficult questions are falling for the machine that gaslights people.
This study (n=1514) was done by Barna Group, an Evangelical Christian polling group.

@drahardja Not surprising at all.
@oblomov not that kind of bun
Not a fan of how Mastodon's new 5.0 design crops the top and bottom of portrait-oriented (vertical) images and requires you to tap on the image to see the whole thing.
For example, here's how a post from my Pixelfed account looks on the new Mastodon UI vs. how it looks on on a server that's still using the previous one.
I'm going to have to find the forum that was linked in that announcement post to share my thoughts.
Ah, looks like it's already being discussed here: https://community.joinmastodon.org/t/show-images-in-correct-aspect-ratio/67?u=mntyfrsh

I remember when liberals referred to scenes from the books like Biblical parables, only to immediately shun her when she, like many middle-aged British feminists, decided to be trans-skeptic.

i feel like if an actual anti-capitalist government ever comes into power, it should just put me to death
because there are only two outcomes
one, it will turn out to be one of those awful tankie ones that hates personal freedoms and wants everyone to submit to the party's demands, but unlike the fascists, it will actually know how to manage stuff and will enjoy a level of support the far-right won't, so my opposition to it will come across as wanting to bring back all the worst things about capitalism
two, it will actually be very democratic and good, actually, and will try to build a society where everyone works towards the common good, except by that point i will have stopped believing that such a thing even exists, and any of my passions will have also gone out, and i'd just be a waste of oxygen and food
What’s wrong with this? Wrong answers only.
@futzle Don't want to trip over the cable, keep it nice and neat!

What happens when the AI agents hack our bank account information the way "Claude" hacked voter information in Georgia?

I have my phone in Do Not Disturb most of the time and have disabled most notifications entirely.
I actually think the entire idea of "phone notifications" is somewhat insane. Like, why do I even want that?? I don't, really.
The number of people on the entire planet who I want to hear from ASAP if they're desperately needing to get ahold of me I can count on one hand.
@jaredwhite 100%! I’m also club permanent silent. I actually think some people close to me in life are annoyed at how often I miss their calls/texts lol
What is happening to the Linux kernel, Bitwarden and Epic Games? - Linux Weekly News
I've spoken about this before and how grateful I am but it's worth repeating. I just checked my watch to confirm that it's Monday morning.
I have my busier days but I feel no dread for any particular day of the week. I have vivid memories of treasuring the weekend and dreading Sunday night and Monday morning though.
If you see this and have a bad feeling in your stomach about the coming work week, you have my sympathy. I hope it gets better soon.
Thanks all the @latenightlinux patrons, BTW ❤️
@joeress @latenightlinux The number of "tech" podcasts I can stomach to listen to has narrowed dramatically in the last couple of years. Your shows definitely make the cut. Thanks for all your hard work!
✌️😃
i'm not gonna explain what any of these numbers or symbols mean

I'm the dev here if anyone has any questions, I was waiting till it was in a more finalized state to announce it. Also full transparency since this community is a little more sensitive on it, this project has been agentically built over the course of the last 1-2 years, but I am a SWE in my day job.
I'm sure most people here would be more curious about the ActivityPub -> atproto bridge, I call this Tidepool code is here: https://tangled.org/bretton.dev/tidepool
I'm planning full Lemmy / Piefed / Pylova federation, the goal is not only to be read only here! Ex my comment is from Coves! Communities themselves aren't being federated yet though.
OP I'd love to know what was spamming you, I can help tackle that we don't have many users and signups are disabled, but I do have some automated bot posts running but those shouldn't be federating yet.
Looks nice.
A look at Toyota's robotics expansion, including its Walden spinoff and a $6.4B annual plan to deploy 400K factory robots, as it competes with Tesla and China (Financial Times)
