Not a fan of how Mastodon's new 5.0 design crops the top and bottom of portrait-oriented (vertical) images and requires you to tap on the image to see the whole thing.

For example, here's how a post from my Pixelfed account looks on the new Mastodon UI vs. how it looks on on a server that's still using the previous one.

I'm going to have to find the forum that was linked in that announcement post to share my thoughts.

Show images in correct aspect ratio

On the official web app you used to show photos in their native aspect ratio (normal, not advanced layout). Starting at maybe 4.7 you limited taller photos, cutting off tops and bottoms until the photo is clicked to show full size. Don’t like this at all as sometimes a critical/interesting portion of the image is cut off in the preview.
