NO TO SCHUMER
Don't believe anything you read about the inevitability of Chuck Schumer becoming Majority Leader.
You may have seen this before, but here is an analysis of Schumer support from back in August of a potential whip count for the 2027 Senate assuming the Dems won a bunch of seats. And they won even more! [The detail is in the subsequent reply.]
Chuck Schumer does not have the votes to become Majority leader.

Will update this analysis when the dust settles.

... under lock copies the extracted entropy out & increments an atomic count or 2, flags the system as initialized, & zeroes out the transient storage.
And to credit into an entropy counter it caps the given value to a minimum & adds it into the atomic counter. As we pass a threshold it reseeds the entropy pool, possibly enqueues some work setting an atomic flag that we're ready, invokes callbacks waiting for randomness to be initialized, ...
3/3.5!
... awakes waiting tasks in the scheduler or those waiting on a dev file, & checks an atomic ratelimit to inform its logging.
While a different threshold merely leads it to reseed under lock.
3.3/3.3 Fin for today! Tomorrow: Log buffering, & maybe more!

Ahead of #NewMusicFriday tomorrow, I want to give @mirlo a try. I could use some help finding artists to check out. Indie / Alt Rock, Punk, Jazz, Classical. Send me some recs!
Of course! Just me in the forest and my bank of computer screens with my digital band of ne'er do-wells.

I'm fine with a review of any conflicts Carney has.
I'd insist that close ally of US VP JD Vance—whose entire political existence can be attributed to Peter Thiel's inner circle–Jamil Jivani undergo the exact same review since Telesat is in direct competition with Elon Musk's Starlink for contracts with the government of Canada.
Jivani's interests seem to repeatedly align with American interests.
Turn over all the rocks, and see what crawls out.

Half a billion dollars wasted. Inject that feeling straight into my veins. 😆
@carnage4life or, of course, in terms most of us can more easily imagine it, “the equivalent of a cup of coffee to the average USian family”
The SF Democratic Party doubled down this year on supporting Flock surveillance cameras, voting AGAINST safeguards and police oversight.
Two of those committee members work for Flock https://missionlocal.org/2026/09/san-francisco-democratic-party-flock-cameras/
And the Party Chair accepted $10,000 from Flock https://sfstandard.com/2026/09/28/sf-dem-party-chair-who-blocked-key-flock-vote-got-10-000-donation-billionaire/
Coincidentally, SF Democrats opposed the one-time tax on billionaires (prop 40), breaking with the rest of the Democratic party statewide https://fortune.com/2026/09/02/san-francisco-democrats-bilionaire-tax-prop-40/
It is cold and dark and wintery out there. Had a Jamaican patty at work today that someone kindly made me. Which got me to thinking. Made a bunch of biryani last night and had pastry in the fridge. So I have just made a batch of Jamaican biryani Cornish patties. With fries.
@TheBreadmonkey 100% approve as someone who has partaken in an onion bharji scotch egg and also the onion bharji sarnie (best on brown bloomer and mango chutney instead of butter/marge)
Looks like everyone in the house was up late watching the KornackiCam livestream. Family groupchat this morning is full of reaction memes.

I understand and share the positive reaction to the US mid term election results. However I'm not entirely sure it will extend to foreign policy and curb Trump's war mongering.
Can any Americans reassure me?

In Danielle Smith's scenario, Deena Hinshaw is "Adolf Hitler" and those who willingly vaccinated are the Nazis.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/danielle-smith-adolf-hitler-netflix-rachel-notley-1.6836160
Note that Danielle Smith also said of unvaccinated Canadians, "They have been the most discriminated against group that I've ever witnessed in my lifetime," right after being sworn in as Premier. This is a lifetime that saw Residential Schools, to which she commented, "It really was fake news" in an opinion column before she was Premier.
