"A growing body of evidence indicates that SARS-CoV-2 infection precipitates downstream cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and thrombotic events, as well as secondary and reactivated infections, that may prove fatal but are recorded under causes other than COVID-19 and are largely unaffected by improvements in acute COVID-19 care."
still looking for a diwali gift?
I'm also very happy that "too big to rig" is still a real thing.
At least so far it doesn't look like the Republicans are going to throw any fits about the results. No they will just let the Democrats step on their own feet for two years instead.
@futurebird Lewis black has that great quote (I'm paraphrasing): The republicans are the party of bad ideas; the democrats are the party of no ideas. Hopefully the new and expanding DSA wing can help keep them focused on doing something, anything.

I know! Let's trust a company, historically bad at numbers and telling the truth, to report accurate numbers about how much we depend on them, and how much more we need to spend on them! Genius.
In Texas District 35, AI and crypto succeeded in boosting Republican Carlos De La Cruz through his primary only to see him defeated by Democrat Johnny Garcia. AI’s Public First network spent $1.5 million in the primary and primary runoff; crypto’s Fairshake contributed $616K in the primary.
@molly0xfff Thanks for adding that up for us.
I’m sorry, but LibreOffice on GNOME looks kinda ugly with the 26.8 update.
@mvsde Sure that this is not just a theme that hasn’t been updated? They can look terrible after updates.

@aurynn same! I recently subscribed to a magazine only for them to announce that the current issue would be the last print issue 😞 . But I did just get the first issue of https://www.continuemagazine.com/ which may be relevant to your interests. I've also been enjoying https://theslowpress.net/ for a few months. But also, you should definitely make your own!
@betsybookworm Oo thank you

We need to decisively and collectively demand that every single anti-ICE protester be freed and have their charges dropped - from the Minneapolis 15, the Praireland Defendants, pro-Palestine demonstrators in Michigan, the Spokane 3 - everyone.

In hot weather, flies blow water bubbles so they cool via evaporation, before re-ingesting them. But on 7ºC days like today, it's to increase the concentration of their liquid food. Same process, different purpose.
I believe this is a species of tiger fly, Coenosia agromyzina.

On UI: dunno if it's a me thing, but it would seem to me as that every site's bad until you get used to it. Piefed for example I find kinda bloated but once I learned where to look, it became much easier to use.
On avoiding content: yeah, requires some patience people usually don't have to block everyone and every place that lowers the quality of the user's feed.
On slower feeds: maybe an autism thing, or maybe because in Mbin, I consume both threads and microblogs, but I feel the opposite, too much to see, enough that I am forced to curate.
On seeing posts again: a bit of a tangent, but both Lemmy and Piefed have post-hiding features. The option is "hidden" in the 3 dots menu of each post, which would imply people are forgetting these 3 dots mean "more options"? Perhaps in this line, having a "more" button like on Mbin would be better?
On porn: FediNSFW. 🕵♂
On being complicated: migrating and integrating usually is, but is needed.
Would make those comments there if I still had access to my account. Oh well.
