Am i allowed to say "I told you so" now? Because I told you so.
@baldur lol. lmao.
@fesshole the stories of evil step moms are not without grounds.
You get laughed at in VSP circles for saying this, but it's true: the Obama & Biden administrations were, by and large, free of major scandal. Every Republican administration for the last century has been corrupt as fuck and every Democratic administration *hasn't*. It's not symmetrical.
Voters never hear this because a) Republicans are constantly making bad-faith accusations & ginning up fake scandals, b) the media is chasing & amplifying every fake scandal in the name of "balance," and c) lefties constantly frame their policy differences w/ Dems in terms of corruption.

@djsundog George Boole, Napoleon of Crime: https://www.irishtimes.com/news/science/could-sherlock-holmes-s-true-nemesis-have-been-a-mathematician-1.3694917
@flyingsaceur @djsundog While both are genii, I'm dubious of Man Who Does No Crimes being the basis for Man Who Does Only Crimes & Asteroids.
Boole's book was really good, but it was a little hard going for a modern not-too-good-education boy.

The Republican Party has devolved into a collection of people with pathological Influencer Brain.
@RevXenoFact "Democrats have cooties."

@kahomono @fesshole There was a comedian and magician (sadly no longer with us) who was known as the Amazing Johnathan, and he used this gag in his act.
He'd say, "I feel like taking my clothes off and running around." Then he'd produce the bottle of "Windex" and take a big swig, after which he'd say "this prevents streaking."
@Rob_T_Firefly @kahomono @fesshole My favourite comic magician.
@AkaSci The primary concerns should be policy and leadership. On these measures Schumer fails.
The scale of these public appeals has exploded under the second Trump term, but these moves were arguably preceded by Benjamin Netanyahu’s efforts to bring the Mossad’s operations much more into the public sphere. https://theintercept.com/2026/11/01/marco-rubio-cuba-cia-recruitment

@Amgine Attributing attacks is very difficult and can take a very long time and a great deal of research.
And if indeed this is some kind of state action, finding a road to peace would seem to be in order such that state sponsored attacks are less likely if indeed that is the case.
But, we don't know. Good basic security practices are in order no matter what the case.
Absolutely correct on all points.
I just find that if an action has one particular beneficiary, they likely are involved in some way with that action.
Progressives need voters to see the truth: that everyone *doesn't* do it. That reactionaries do it on a scale & with an intent that dwarfs anything on the other side. That it is possible to have rule of law in which liars & cheaters are identified & punished. That *we can have nice things*.

Hot take: using "AI" is really just scabbing.
It supports the autocracy of billionaire capital against the interests of workers, whether you're replacing the labour of photographers by making a creepy glazed slop menu for a restaurant, of designers by publishing a cringe-inducing LLM-extruded gig poster, of programmers by using Claude to spit out some software no human can maintain, of scriptwriters, of journalists, of translators, etc. It's the antithesis of solidarity.

Oh I didn't realise it was Pretend to be Good Person Sunday.
You can tell who are pretending to be good people because they wear these red poppy things to distinguish themselves from other people.
Basically, you wear one of those poppies and it supposedly makes it look like you care about things but you should never mention current war crimes like what is happening in Gaza and you shouldn't mention the UK's support and enabling of the genocide there or anywhere. Instead you just wear a poppy and just walk about a bit.
Or, like BBC presenters, you wear a poppy and look like a smug twat.
It happens every year I am told.
@lydiaconwell Seriously, what is that about? Back when I used to watch the BBC, I saw those all the time, but never knew why they wore them.
