I don’t remember hearing of it till now, yet it claims a lot of desired features. Github page shows only one contributor, one fork, 44 stars; lot of commits in the last week, oldest 3 years ago; GNU Affero General Public Licence v3.0.

@ThorsdaysChild looking forward to meeting you! You'll have to identify yourself to me 🙂

@heidilifeldman Agreed. We can walk and chew ass at the same time. Pass meaningful reform and start up the subpoena mill. Restore the ACA and get committees rolling. Pass bills repealing Citizens United. Roll call votes. Make Trump veto it. And make a fucking stink when he does. Expose Elon and the other oligarch class for what they are—the real welfare queens at the pig trough.

These objects have Render methods deferring to their inner objects, as well as (de)serialization methods (aided by a support library I've already studied) so it can be cached in the SD card.

That said PageImages might clear its background 1st.

Pages might traverse its tree to gather a histogram of required glyphs, & sort that transient array to prefetch them.

There's a RenderConfig struct specifying various text-layout parameters.

2/3?

As I described yesterday, Papyrix's page-cache can defer to logic for laying out paragraphs of plaintext into a layout/rendering tree. So what objects might a Papyrix layout be constructed from?

There's a PageElement superclass with x/y coordinates, as well as PageLine & PageImage subclasses both wrapping a block object. While a Page wraps an array of such elements.

There's a method to test whether any of those are PageImages, & a method to get min/max coords on both axis.

1/?

@GayDeceiver "He's greater than that which we can conceive."

"Him?"

Take a break before you need it. It will make it easier to prevent burnout.

There's a ParsedText class tracking an array of words & an array of their text-styles, the block's text style, indentation level & flag, hyphenation flag, greedy-breaking flag, & text-direction flag.

There's a helper checking if a word ends in certain latinate punctuation chars. A utility for locating all the soft-hyphen chars in a UTF-8 string alongside ones for removing them, checking if a word ends in one, or replacing the trailing one with a hard hyphen.

3/4?

To apply layout to a ParsedText object after some validation Papyrix tidies up after interrupted work looking for soft-hyphens to collapse, takes a shortcut for excessively long paragraphs, pre-hyphenates (via a helper with multiple branches/loops) words that are so wide they'll never fit, calculates the width of each word (via a helper & renderer method) taking into account indentation, runs one of 2 methods for the core logic, checks whether the work's aborted, & ...

5/5.2 For today!

There's helpers for splitting around a given hyphen converting it into an actual one, & removing hyphens from the prefix but not suffix.

There's a CJK charset test. A formula calculating cubic-ratio in the difference between line lengths, alongside one for calculating "demerits" from that without penalizing the last line.

There's a method for appending a word to the parsed text ignoring empty words & handling CJK characters specially as individual words.

Then there's the layout method!

4/5?

New, for @TheAthletic: Canada, U.S. women will wear generic jerseys at World Championship amid dispute with IIHF 🔗⬇️

... & (via more nontrivial helpers) converts each line of the results.

Anyways I think I've spend enough time on this today, I will resume tomorrow! And should finish this support library on the following day!

5.2/5.2 Fin for today!

Yet more code I'll be wanting to port for my "merephone" project... SMS Texts will surely need text-wrapping!

@ai6yr @noondlyt Doesn’t help that the entire dem establishment in CA was against either. 🤬

Not doing a good job of getting anything useful done today. Too tired from last night to think straight. I drove to grab some celebratory fancy coffee drinks and yeah.... I shouldn't be driving, either. Too tired.

At least I have caffeine now and planning to stay home the rest of the day and stare into the middle distance sipping my drink.

@Sarahp I use it (the noai version) and I love it.

It's calm. The results have a low cognatative load, so I can remain focused on what I'm looking for.

I didn't now how much chaos google search was adding to my web experience until I switched to DDG. Google became my opponent.

@ai6yr @MCDuncanLab yeah lot of people start wearing shorts around here in spring when it gets that warm 😜 [they actually do, not me except back when I could still do trail runs]

when I say I have limitations, I don't mean "I can't be bothered trying to do these things"

I mean "I will try really hard to do the things and I will STILL FAIL and I would rather avoid that process altogether as it makes me feel bad"
