10 minutes out from the MTG Star Trek PPR!
Pictured here, myself and Anna Margaret (and Matt Tabak in the back) bristling with excitement.
@mike I doubt coaching is problem. I’ll lay my cards on the table: stability is how you build long term success. The coaching (and/or goalie) turnstile feeds fan bloodlust; I doubt that it builds team success.
The most awful example of that is the Oilers. The team has known for several years how to play, but lost the script in the “fire the goalies/coache” follies last yr. The current “dead cat bounce” was predicted. What’s not clear is whether or when star players revert to habits of poor 200-ft play.
Last night v Habs, Jets were better team. Bounces didn’t go their way until last 3 minutes. Is that on the coach? Players? Or the hockey gords?
Jets have more going on than record shows. The Helley situation f’kd the team’s voodoo. Maybe that was exorcised in those final three minutes plus OT? I hope so.
In any case, resist the “fire coach” impulse. It doesn’t build team morale. After Helley, this team needs stability. Commitment. Leadership.
@hanspetermeyer My fire the coach thesis is based on the defensive system and player utilization. Vets are being given too much weight in the line up and the Jets collapse far to deep into the house . Execution is definitely a factor but I'm thinking this mix of systems and player utilization is not optimal.

Enlargement is an investment in Europe’s peace, security and prosperity.
Today we've shared our yearly update on countries aspiring to join the EU, proposing indicative roadmaps for the most advanced negotiating countries:
🇲🇪 Montenegro
🇦🇱 Albania
🇺🇦 Ukraine
🇲🇩 Moldova
Every enlargement has made the EU stronger. Since 2004, living standards in newer EU countries have doubled, life expectancy increased and millions of new jobs have been created across Europe.
@EUCommission It gladdens me to see new family members making good progress. I especially look forward to welcoming Ukraine!
Colombia’s peace deal is ten years old, and seems to be holding. About 85% of former FARC fighters are still in the reintegration programme. The original peace deal planned for 25 cooperatives; ex-combatants have since founded more than 300 of them, spanning farming, brewing, sewing and tourism. @GPJohnston Wonderful set of photos!
@ElaineActivism thanks for connecting! I'm going to try an installation in the next week or so 😊 you have motivated me...
@davidoclubb great! It's good to focus on one small geographic area first, try to get all the events up on it, even if you end up creating groups and events yourself first with the organisers' permission, then make them admin of the group. Another great thing is that people can follow mobilizon groups on Mastodon without any mobilizon account, and be notified of events that way

Take today to celebrate. Tomorrow, we pick up our shovels and mops again and start cleaning up and fixing things, and not just try to keep things from getting worse.
