My boys

#introduction Hello, everyone! ♡

I'm Elena, I'm 19 years old and I'm from Chile! 🇨🇱

I'm happy to be joining this community and looking forward to meeting new people from different places.

A little about me: I'm passionate about programming, technology, music, writing, poetry, literature and learning new things.

Some of my favorite artists are Twenty One Pilots and Olivia Rodrigo. I'm also a big fan of Fairlygab, and I'd love to share more about her with others!

I'm here to improve my English, exchange ideas, discover new interests and hopefully make some genuine friendships.

I enjoy meaningful conversations, random thoughts, creative projects and learning about different perspectives.

If we share any interests, don't hesitate to say hello! I'd love to get to know you.

Looking forward to being part of this community! ♡

Four sketch-sets from this year’s #inktober:

- memories of FilkCONtinental: https://www.draketo.de/kreatives/kritzelkratzel#filkcontinental-memories about https://www.filkcontinental.de/
- a full and a half set of best thing today sketches (the latter scanned early for today): https://www.draketo.de/kreatives/best-thing-today
- dragons and a dog ☺

Sadly the scanner isn’t that great at capturing the shades of red of the dragon wings. I use #gimp color curves to make paper look white and black ink look black. Do you have tips to those can be preserved better when digitizing?

> Hier, la préfète d’Ille-et-Vilaine Emmanuelle Dubée a précisé « Nous savons faire la différence entre un enfant avec un masque de citrouille et un individu masqué qui s’en prend aux forces de l’ordre. »

C'est vrai que y'a vraiment besoin de préciser 😁

Louder for people in the back:

Debian without politics is just volunteering for Canonical.

Also, is there any centralized forum that is more active than the Threadiverse (Lemmy/Piefed/Pylova/Mbin)?

I can only think of Lobste.rs and Tildes.

Buddy…

Because people expect a seamless experience?

You want a seamless experience…

And I already told you what to do for that:

Go there, none of us care

If that’s what anyone here wanted, they wouldn’t be here…

Why does one place not being how you want it, mean that it should change to be like everywhere else? And especially when you seemingly don’t want to go to any of the many options that are already like that?

Do you legitimately not understand the responses this is getting?

If you don’t like it, go back to reddit. But you’re not going to convince anyone on the fediverse that the fediverse should be more like reddit. The few people that would agree with you, have already made these same posts, gotten the same responses, and went back to reddit.

How are you surprised the people who stay here like it?

No communities I want to see have ever disappeared. Just choose your instance wisely and all is okay.

@TheBreadmonkey

sorry, santa, but I'm gonna give away your secret . . .

The sky this morning was looking suitably Halloween-y.

#SaturdaySky

Just look at Lemmy and how many communities defederate from one another because of ideological disagreements

Lol…

Decentralizing isn’t good if you want everyone in the same spot, that is correct…

But why does everyone need crammed together?

Some people just don’t vibe, if no one wants to federate with an instance, they don’t have to.

I’ll never understand why people who grew up with big social media are so hung up up on this idea that one platform has to host everyone.

Like, a shit ton of fractured forums was the norm for decades, long before Facebook, twitter, or insta. Everyone going to the same place is a new thing, and if people are here it’s because they didn’t think it worked out.

You don’t, you think it’s great for insanely wealthy tech ros to control every conversation.

Cool.

Go there, none of us care

When accounting for all defederations between all instances with at least 50 MAU (as of when I last checked in August, at least), the only instances that are defederated with over 5% of other Threadiverse users are lemmygrad.ml, hexbear.net, fedinsfw.app, forum.guncadindex.social, and lemmy.1095.me, none of which are oriented towards the average user moving over from Reddit anyhow.

Less defederation on average is better, but defederation is not a huge problem as it stands, particularly if you pick an instance known to use it minimally such as lemmy/piefed.zip.

If you’re gonna make opinionated posts like this, you might want to get a little better at accepting criticism or disagreement

@ai6yr I see this less as "drinking the Kool-Aid" and more as the Kool-Aid man bursting down your {fire}wall.
