@ai6yr @anticomposite ARRL aside, listening to 40m was enough to convince me that HAM might not be for me
@disser @anticomposite 😢 On the other hand, you could join and eventually we'd have more people who are not those people in the hobby.

Chromium 157.0.8103.46 only has a single minor change which isn't relevant to Vanadium since we only use 64-bit builds of the browser. There's no reason for us to ship it but the releases are endless and there will be another security update soon anyway.

“Mississippi voter turnout skyrocketed this year — bringing Democratic Senate candidate Scott Colom close to an unlikely win — despite perhaps the nation’s most restrictive voting system.
“Over 950,000 votes had been counted in the race as of Thursday morning, with 10,000 or more still to come. That’s compared to just 710,000 total votes in the last midterms — when Misssissippi ranked dead last in the nation for turnout.
“It’s an increase of an eye-popping 35%.”
this is one of those times I wish I had a… wuzzut called… rober press? big screw, pushes a thing into (or out of) another thing. that’d be good here right?
@moira Soak it in some kind of solvent overnight or for a few days (outdoors!). WD-40 might work, or penetrating oil. (PB Blaster would work but it's nasty stuff). THEN, try removing the crank after it's soaked. I managed to get a crank off that way (oh yeah, also used a vise clamped to a wood patio and used the frame for leverage). Wasn't easy.
1/ If there's a political lesson to be learned over the past decade it's that the party that treats the electorate as though they're stupid will get punished. In the US the Dems ignored grassroots concerns about globalism, affordability, etc, patted the electorate on the head and said leave this to your betters. You got Trump as a result. Recently in my province of BC the NDP tried some obvious political chicanary with a snap election. The electorate handed them their ass.
Excuse me TI, what?

On this day in 2017 I compared the Google Pixelbook and the iPad Pro. https://youtu.be/rC2a5-30ro8 #Pixelbook #iPadPro

@Doctacosa Welcome to #CoSocial - Time to start talking with Canada and the world!
@coop Happy to be here! 😀
@iknowpony Sure, it is. It's not the financial side of it, it's because I know how they feel when I take them in a cage after a long evening/night without eating. How they spend the day at the vet, near the operation room, hearing all complaints of other animals, the smell of fear. How they suffer the post operation at wake-up... How I need to setup a room for them alone after operation, isolated, with cat litter and all. It's a bad day, or two, and takes time to setup and drive. But a TODO.
@davidrevoy You are a brave, strong person. And you are honest with yourself.
I've been reviewing Scott Colom's ad campaign today and I'm VERY impressed with his range. He really nails both high end high production ads
Meanwhile for every high end, high production ad Scott Colom did several EXTREMELY low budget down to earth ads.
I really don't agree with the guy on every issue but HE's absolutely right about the DNC's current leadership being insanely out of touch and unable to speak the people's language.
He clearly ran a campaign SERIOUS campaign.
We NEED to study this man's approach, its a serious winning strategy for the south.
@apps impressive, ten years! so fedilab has been around as long as mastodon?
@fedicat
Yes, Fedilab was first called Mastalab. It looked like this :)
@darkbeth @chema @Meznor Yes, I started something, using the hosting solution I have ( davidrevoy.com , hosted at OVH) , they have a built-in webmail service. I'm trying to setup first a simple redirection and keep my protonmail account for the two years (subscription was already paid, meh) to be sure no email points to it and work on it here and there, until everything will be migrated hopefully.
Ah, that sounds like a good option. Maybe I'll take a look at hosts like that too.
I have less than a week left on my annual sub, and I know there's no getting around paying for another month at this point, but at least I was able to swap the annual out for monthly for now.
@ai6yr My wife scoffed at an America250 logo somewhere, and I pointed out that this was the "real one." But yeah, the whole concept was soiled.
@disser @anticomposite It looks like Freedom 250 coopted everything (they were telling donors to America 250 to instead donate to Freedom 250), and America 250 doesn't exist, with all the events organized by the grifted group. So. Unclear to me where things stand, except it all stinks.

@NatureMC @davidrevoy
We have a stray that adopted us and needs to go to the vet. We made him a house in the carrier outside that he sleeps in most nights now. In a bit we will fix the door on and try to close it when he is inside and calm. But I fear he will resent me for it and all the trust will have to be rebuilt 🫣.
Just finished up with the #repairCafe at the library.
I was main for bicycles and backup for laptop repair and Linux Install.
I managed to:
- tune a derailleur on one bike
- attach a kickstand to another
- swap out fresh tires and inner tubes for a third (and taught the family how to do and supervised them while they did the second tire!)
As backup for laptop repair, I helped diagnose and find a mitigation for a set or USB headphones/mic that was only pushing sound through one speaker.
I also met a lot of folks throughout town. Talked to some city organizers and officials. Talked to other groups and folks and had a great time.
The other repair stands besides my bicycle station were:
- A sewing and mending station
- An electronic / appliance repair station
- A historical preservation station
- A furniture repair station
- A laptop repair and Linux install station
- A kids section with coloring and activities
It was a good day.
@tinker I love that you took awesome pics and covered the faces. I run a community garden and am going to steal this idea!
