Have you seen a movie that didn't get a theatrical release recently?
or really any movie you wanna talk about that didn't involve Lance Oppenheim?

Do you have a favourite sheep breed?
I love a texel, especially the rams. Like the pitbull of sheep.
Mr tm loves the southdown with their wooly faces.
And I also have a soft spot for the cheviot

I know I've retooted my piece here already, but I want folks to grasp just how much of a bubble collapse has transpired. Not talking financials quite yet but the online “vibe shift” is MASSIVE.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway:
> There are a slew of “technologists” who post on X regularly and imagine the comments section represents the totality of the greater tech community. It does not. It is a bubble. 🫧
>
> X is not real life.
>
> But the X bubblers refuse to understand the bubble they live in.
I just realized a thing:
I got in the building. I planted a malicious device that didn't go anywhere because ports were off. I got financial docs, an old backup disk, and access to a device in LAN that didn't go anywhere mostly because time was limited and I did not bring the right thing.
How successful was I really, in that scenario?
@m4iler Man do I know this feeling. Imposter syndrome hits different when your job actually IS to be an imposter.
When we're training or onboarding someone to do this kind of work, there's a thing we say to them over and over until it becomes like a mantra.
You are not the one being tested. You are the one performing the test.
It's so easy to look at things you weren't able to accomplish and feel like that means you failed, but THAT'S imposter syndrome. "Success" in this job means "I showed up and accurately emulated an attacker." That's it. As long as you can look at yourself and honestly say you did that, then you succeeded at your job.
It doesn't matter if you got full DA access on day 1 or got thrown out the second you walked in the door. You showed up, you did the work, you performed a thorough and accurate test. You succeeded.
It's easy to launch a new site or platform.
Maintaining it is another story.
Imagine you have 100+ domains, a dozen servers and several websites and services you need to monitor, update and keep running.
So I started planning, and wrote 3 interconnected pieces: the hub, sentinels (which run on each server) and probes (which are separate servers that monitor the rest)
One click updates, backup health, domain renewal alerts, status pages and discord alerts + more ✨

I'm so hecking happy I finally finished the v1 of this, I've been working on it in secret since early 2025.
I know it won't appeal to most people, but I learned a lot building this and look forward to it making ops a lot easier for me.
Such an own goal...
If Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer end up being the House and Senate majority leaders, they will enter those positions being MASSIVELY UNPOPULAR according to their favorability.
Chuck Schumer:
Favorable: 15%
Unfavorable: 68%
Net Favorability: -53%
Hakeem Jeffries
Favorable: 23%
Unfavorable: 56%
Net Favorability: -33%
This is why we need NEW LEADERSHIP!

@IcooIey Lion King pose, but it's a sheep.
@asakiyume @IcooIey exactly!
Right… fingers crossed, barring calamity, I should start rolling out the Kitten update in the next few minutes.
Migrating servers from API version 0 to API version 1 is a manual process (from API version 1 onwards, it’s automatic, including across API versions, with full rollback) so I’m going to be updating our servers too afterwards.
I’ll make an announcement once I’m happy that everything is running smoothly.
(And then, hopefully go and celebrate at my big 5-0 birthday do this evening in Dublin with some good ’ol BBQ and drag queen karaoke.)
Never release on a Friday? But it ain’t a Friday, amirite? :)
🤞
@aral happy birthday!
Data was AI.
i find it doubly painful and concerning that even with everything going on about llms and linux, they still choose to double down on "systemd or nothing"
specially since gnome overall has a anti-llm instance, it's mind boggling
