There was a good jobs report today. Suspiciously good. I suspect it was supposed to come out before the election, but some embedded apparatchik in the agency didn’t check his calendar (or didn’t know how).

Motorola has announced their new high end flagship phone including upcoming official support for GrapheneOS as an OS option.
Motorola Signature 27 will be the first Motorola device supported by GrapheneOS. More devices will be supported in the future.
@GrapheneOS lol, $1600 and filled with genAI malware. No thanks. I need a $300 noAI phone. Will check back later.
@ajroach42 just rewatching the 'animes made by a literal cult' series from Mother's Basement.
@Craigp Paper Will did a deep dive on media produced by cults a while back, and mentioned a couple of anime.
I also really dug his overview of north korean media.
wellp looks like another fucking AI crawler bot swarm has descended upon https://sockpuppet.band/ so that's fun
I wish AI crawler authors a very "get a fucking life"

They should do what a lot of homes on the NC coast do: put the house high up on stilts, with only the carport or maybe a small guest-room at ground-level.
Of course, that won't do much if there's heavy debris in a storm, but it does give you a lot more margin when the flooding is gentle.
(I'm also imagining coastal towns of the future with elevated roadways and gondola-lift transit...)
@woozle @ai6yr @EugestShirley
There are towns along the Mississippi River that got moved from the flood plain to the bluffs that never flooded. Unfortunately for California coastal homes, everything higher up has already been built on.

not. at all. i consider anything i put here akin to standing on my nearest street corner during rush hour, shouting into the darkness
confused how anyone could think anything otherwise.

Data has to federate, so nothing is going to really be private like you mention. I think it’s unreasonable to expect anything otherwise. I don’t see a point to hiding votes because of this. If someone starts stalking or harassing their voters for some reason, have a reporting system and handle that.
Never kill yourself, you have to survive to see Stephen Miller go to prison.

How private do you consider your votes in the Threadiverse?
From the technical side anyone can spin up their own Lemmy instance and view all votes, but I'm curious at what the community's perspective on how "private" that is. I think Mbin already shows upvoters? Piefed allows anonymous voting. I also know there are sites which show all voting history, but assuming those are fairly disliked.
My general questions to the community: - Do you expect your votes to be private, or just not shown in the UI? - Would per-voter votes showing up on another aggregator platform bother you, even though your instance already shares them with other servers?
For context I'm the dev doing some two way bridge interop between atproto + Threadiverse, in atproto the votes/likes are generally publicly accessible, you just look at the users repo through something like pdsls.dev, they're readable and archivable by anyone. In my opinion this isn't that big of a problem since it's fairly hard to look at and discern (Ex all my votes: https://pdsls.dev/at://did:plc:lmdkqemqrqnfiix72pyjhfey/social.coves.feed.vote). Ultimately trying to figure out if there's already a mutual understanding that they are public and we can just mirror them or whether they should stay hidden as an aggregate.
November 6, 2026—White House “Ice Maiden” and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles resigns to spend more time with her remaining sanity. Two weeks ago her boss dismissed rumors of this as “fake news.” Wiles will receive a sinecure in Trump’s political organization to keep her from writing a book. She is replaced by proto-satanic homunculus Stephen Miller, who will preside over the remaining destruction of the presidency.
@mcc you recently read a bunch of his books, did you like the Ana and Din books and did you read this one yet?
@c0dec0dec0de ah… yes I did but thanks lol
@USelaine @billyjoebowers My daughter recently bought some PRE RIPPED JEANS 😬
@ai6yr @billyjoebowers
I got hand down Levis from my brother that were perfect. Naturally faded and threadbare with open knees, and my mom forbade me to wear them to school! 😭
Am I utterly losing my mind and all ability to use the internet, or is this in fact an amazing long form article style post about an anti AI commercial which apparently does not link to the ad they analyze??
EDIT: allegedly the ad is embedded somehow in the article but it doesn't show up in a variety of browsers or something.
Again, maybe I am too old or just too tired tonight. But I have read through this MASSIVE post multiple times and nowhere in it can I simply click to view the ad as far as I can tell.

Interesting this is directly attributed to the elections.
Houston Public Media: Houston Mayor John Whitmire directs HPD to reduce cooperation with ICE after midterm results
@ai6yr
I was surprised that he tried to stop this in April and the city council agreed but Abbott stepped in and threatened to take funding from the city causing them to reverse the decision to stop cooperating. I guess they are no longer worried.
On Sunday I saw multiple car-carrier trucks loaded with Deploreans heading for Pier 80 in SF. I speculated that they were being exported for recycling. Now that seems even more likely.
