Does any of you know any fediverse federation maps?
Are there any maps showing which instances federate which others? Like those maps with nodes and connections
It’s for no particular reason, I’m just curious >.<
"The enemies of ordinary people in Scotland don’t wear niqabs or burqas. They wear smartly ironed, shiny new suits, and sit right over there"
Women who wear the niqab or burqa deserve to live their lives free from discrimination, intimidation and hatred.
Reform’s attempt to ban their clothing has nothing to do with public safety. It is about singling out Muslim women and telling them they don’t belong.
Scotland must reject this far-right politics of hate.

Shabana Mahmood is doubling down on the hostile environment with her latest announcement about changes to earned settlement. Labour should be ashamed of themselves for playing into the far right anti-migrant narratives and making upending people's lives in this way.
Watching with sound muted the TOTP 2000 on BBC4, with the idea to turn it up if anything I might like comes on.
Program Info lists many of the acts...
Now seems the vol up button is likely having an extended break 😂

Data centers have become a major political issue. I was on @brianmerchant’s podcast to dig into the backlash and talk about my new book HYPERSCALE. Tune into our conversation!

Wackersdorf Vibes wenn ich von Protesten gegen "AI" Rechenzentren lese. Und nur damit das klar ist — das sind gute Vibes für mich ;) Hat damals auch geklappt.
@jwildeboer
Lula triumphed in Brazil’s recent elections, despite polls saying otherwise and Meta putting its thumb on the scale for the far right.
On Tech Won’t Save Us, I spoke with Laís Martins to discuss Meta’s election interference and tech policy in Brazil.

Me: I went shopping earlier, needed some cooked meats for lunches.
Friend: What did you get?
Me: Well, first I got the melting ham
Friend: The what?
Me: Then the spinning turkey
Friend: are you having a stroke?
Me: Then there was the chorizo looking at it's own reflection.
Friend: Where the fuck do you go shopping?
Me: The Salvador Deli.
Me: Put down the cricket bat.

For me, the quietness and lack of reply when I do call makes me less likely to bother calling, so it's a self fulfilling prophecy.
But also, not to be rude, I'm not that interested in talking to the other hams nearby.
There's a handful of repeater systems linked across my region (relatively rural part of "inland Pacific Northwest USA), and I wouldn't describe the 2m/70cm bands as inactive, but it's mostly weekly social nets or nets related to EmComm groups.
As to why I don't do more -- it's a lot of what you said, outside of those, there's not often a reply, but none of the nets really give me the warm fuzzies about joining on a regular basis either.
I used to scan the repeater frequencies when driving around, but I wasn't driving frequently, or at regular times until recently when we got a second car 😞 -- and lately I've been using a mobile HF radio in the car, with an antenna that works well on 20m, so I'm listening to that more often.
Next up in Linux's bootup sequence is to finish initializing all the subsystems related to memory. It needed to start the process early since basically any code will need or want to allocate RAM, but the same time it needed to hold finishing these subsystems until now thanks to some cyclic dependencies.
To do so it 1st finalizes some CPU-specific initialization, which appears to be about retrieving some specs & allocating virtual-memory datastructures.
1/?
Then it retrieves & remembers (via a helper) a CPU-specific zero-page.
For multicore CPUs it validates the `MAX_ZONE_LIST` build flag is greater than 2, carefully allocates (via a suite of helpers & some locks) & validates per-CPU-core "zone lists", sets (via helpers + wrappers adding locking & validation) some "CPU hotplugging" properties with callbacks to update & flush those zone lists, & consults (via another helper) the linker sets some memory profiling globals.
2/?
Another effect might be new regulations, like age verification, that put an undue burden on Fediverse admins. I think this might be more likely; we might be able to work with allies to set boundaries on this kind of regulation. Could be major. We are seeing this other places, too.
Will the election affect the number of participants here? I don't know. The 2024 election saw a huge exodus from X to BlueSky. That meant a lot of new people visible to us through the bridge, but less relative mindshare for ActivityPub. Does the 2026 election mean more people on "liberal" social media? Or a move back to X? I'm not sure. BlueSky apparently had its biggest night ever on election night.
