the ui looks extremely generic, like everything llms spit out. and no, i’ve not tried to create my own fediverse software. you don’t have to be a director to critique a movie.

Just popping in to say hi :3
A free tool turns a Go repository into one HTML map you can hand to someone
https://lockergnome.com/codemap-go-module-single-html-file-dependency-map/
It's so disheartening to explain this over and over working in critical infrastructure cybersecurity full time. It's because everyone demands cheap, fast remote support and AI enabled real time telemetry and control. We’ve worked ourselves into this corner through demanding connectivity and I see next to nothing truly airgapped anymore. In fact, it’s impossible to convert some critical systems back at this point.
A lot of our power infrastructure is so complex with microgrids and renewables and real time billing and buy backs that it can’t be switched to manual anymore. A lot of industrial vendors won’t provide warranty support if their remote access is removed.
And this is all happening in super low maturity environments with limited if any cybersecurity resources or tools.
We’re trying, but the state of things is pretty dire, the barrier to basic disruptive attacks is lowering rapidly, and we can’t find enough people who understand the industrial environments and cybersecurity on thirty year old computers fast enough to hire close to enough people.
The other issue will be reporting and documention requirements for commercial freezers and fridges
Their temperatures would need to recorded regularly so as to demonstrate that the food (or whenever) is being kept at the correct temperature.
Doing that at scale, reliably for any number of fridges and freezers would be manually expensive and error prone. Possibly with a temptation to hide errors with falsified manual recordings.
Remote, centralised recording and monitoring makes good sense. It has to be done securely though which is where cost and convenience wins out over security 🫤🤷♂️
Who would possibly want to tamper with a fridge containing blood products? A failure of immigration coupled with cost cutting is a dangerous combination 🫤

Because vibe-coded projects are almost never maintained. Usually they’re abandoned after a very short time.

Hi from normals.me. If you can read this, the federation works
This post is written on https://normals.me and delivered to !fediverse@lemmy.world over #ActivityPub, so if you are reading it the basic plumbing works. Now let me explain what is this.
Normals is a forum with communities, threads, and questions with an accepted answer. It is a single instance, not software you can host, and the core is closed for anti-abuse reasons. The federation module will be published separately with implementation notes (FEP-67ff).
What federates today Every community is a Group actor following the Lemmy model (FEP-1b12). Follow @selfhosted@normals.me or any other community from Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin or Mastodon.
Posts and comments go both ways. Replies from your instance appear in the thread on Normals, replies from Normals go back to the origin.
Remote content is labelled with its origin, links back to it, and is never copied. Media loads from the source.
Signed fetches, so it works with instances that require authorized fetch. NodeInfo 2.1 is up.
Policies, in case they matter to you, it has no ads, and no paid reach, and of course no AI training on posts. AI crawlers blocked by default, public mod log with reasons, and no automated removals. Numbers at https://normals.me/transparency so please take a look.
If something from your instance shows up wrong here, or something from here shows up wrong on yours, reply with the URL and I'll fix it. Andy Piper mentioned NodeBB uses the same group model, if anyone runs a NodeBB instance I'd like to test against it, if possible.
I hope we all have fun. Cheers!
@Lana I kluged it close enough. (My many years of experience in I.T. have apparently been of some use after all!)
My performance is terrible and bad, but there are two camera angles! ...one of them rotated and much lower quality (but at least shows a bit of the guitar)! 😅

The .mp4 is the higher-quality recording by far. If anyone feels like playing around with video editors, I could improve the sound (overdub a vocal for the chorus, add some piano?)... but quite possibly it's not worth it?
I could also be talked into trying to get a better recording. I do have mics. Really. With XLR plugs and everything!
Good to know the audio on my new-old phone is apparently half-decent, at least.
@woozle incredible!!!! 🩷🩷🩷🩷
Is that link by chance somewhere I could upload a file of my own performing it?
@nomdeb Yeah we tried to use translators but it didn't work great. 😞 I'm glad it worked for you guys though! :)
@sapphireangel Well some of the translations were wildly off - which led to some hilarity. But we definitely were able to use them enough to have long text conversations during the early days of covid. :)

Most of that is fair except
UI code is not part of the core business
That I definitely disagree with. UI and UX is important.
Still doesn’t make that vibe coded frontend worth anything.

I very much doubt the AI use is confined to the frontend. But I don’t see why the frontend is fine to vibe code while other stuff is not?
Using AI as a tool is fine. It can be very useful for programming. But “vibe coding” is using it to an extreme degree where the AI is producing almost the whole thing, with a very small amount of guidance or design from the user. That’s what I would object to. Such a tool has very little value, anyone can vibe code such a thing.

Is it elitism to call out vibe coding now? What a world.
Not to mention that their understanding of what tailwind is seems patchy at best, despite claiming that they have 15 years of experience.

Hold up though, when some of these companies go bankrupt and their assets get sold off for cheap....
@mhoye Not totally clear to me how diligently they keep the material between training runs. Like, it might make the most sense to do so, but they do things that don't make sense
@sapphireangel One of the ladies speaks very good English and my Spanish is basically made up of French hoping it's a close enough word ;)) mixed in with Hindi and German - my brain short circuits. But we do very well using online translators. In fact during Covid (we paid them to stay home) we had long philosophical conversations by text. :)
@nomdeb Yeah we tried to use translators but it didn't work great. 😞 I'm glad it worked for you guys though! :)
Siri AI has transformed a thing that could only be used to set timers into a thing that can only be used to set timers much more slowly.
The audacity of AI CEOs, going on TV to say the technology they are building may or may not destroy humanity but definitely would make you unemployed in five years, will be studied for decades.
