this week I really feel the bworf
3200 manifestants à montpellier quand même !
Notifcation on on my phone about a delivery: "Jesus is approaching with your order". Now I wish I had tidied up the house more.
@mattblaze your five loaves and two fish (Matthew 14:13) is only 2 stops away
I ran out of time to get Void Linux working on an old enterprise Thinkpad so now I've just gotta bring my Ubuntu gaming laptop to ETH0 like the poser I am
@woozle I think we share similar sentiments.
Its why I think arguing logic talking points about "why trans women wouldn't actually be that disruptive to women's sports........etc" isn't productive.
Granted, arguing any points at all might not be productive, at least to republicans.
But a lot of these initiatives passed in blue states. I just don't think its helpful to try to reason within left leaning circles on "why" trans sports bans are/aren't needed. Because the root of the issue is right-wingers just don't see trans women as women and they want to hurt and oppress them to further an authoritarian regime. They don't and won't care about testosterone levels or the number of trans girls actually in sports.
The left leaning people who take it in good faith and try to argue specifics aren't helping anything, only validating the argument, and it's why these things are able to pass in areas that otherwise lean for trans rights. It also signals to trans girls that we don't believe them. That's my opinion, at least.
@Ethanol Yeah, that is definitely a point -- apparently a lot of people have bought the rhetoric without realizing that it's based on factually incorrect premises. The lie works, as long as it's buried inside a reasonable-seeming wrapper.
I'm not sure how to reach them, but it definitely seems worth some investment of effort one way or another.
So a rather troubling fact about Opportunity is that they have an internal binding rule that 25% of their board can veto any decision. Their board is 7 members. That means that just 2 unelected people can effectively decide the direction of government, if Opportunity is in the 'kingmaker' seat. Which it may be.
I really struggle to type the words that I agree with Seymour on this. It is dangerously anti-democratic.
wow that’s a margin
@moira
Is Gerry there?
Gerry who?
Gerry Mander!
@lightweight
Indeed... He is near the top of (if not the first spot then very close to it) my list of least liked politicians in NZ currently
The biggest issue is his politics. Apart from the rare (like 1 time every 1-4 years) time that I might agree with the Act party on something, in general, the stuff they put forth is most disagreeable!
The second though, is that he comes across as a perpetually smug asshole, but one who's traditionally been surprisingly effective at selling whatever next evil scheme they have brewing.
(That role however seems to have been handed over to the former broadcaster in recent weeks - assuming he gets in - who through his professional skills + connections + existing fan base may prove an even more formidable nuissance in times to come)
@aligorith to which former broadcaster are we referring here?
@ai6yr 2/2 The salt will draw juice out and almost fill the jar. Wait a week or so then top up with juice you've squeezed from some fresh ones. Don't use a metal lid on the jar - it will rust badly. I use a glass topped kilner jar. Every week or so turn it upside down and leave it upturned until you turn it again in another week or so. (So you need a good seal). The fruits will gradually get darker and the liquid gelatinous. Here's a photo of some lemons done this way around 14 months ago.
@Jeffrey Aha, noted on the metal on the lid!!!
okay but in my defense, have you seen my dog

Earlier I did a search for #RussellBrand after the news of his conviction broke and I found someone had, probably within minutes, altered his Wikipedia page to include his criminal conviction.
oh gods, this is about me, isn’t it. I’ve become the kind of woman this is parodying
I am terribly sorry to interrupt your doomscrolling, but today's Low Quality Ad is for this Blue Cat Pin. Look at him. There is not a single thought going through his furry head. He is blissfully unaware of life's many hardships. We can only dream of being this mentally vacant.

Quand j'entends le mot "éducation" je sors mes CRS.
It might be a good time to remind Republicans that their party probably wouldn't have collapsed had they allowed Trump to be convicted in his impeachment the January 6 Capitol riot.
