Maths pals, are any of you using or working on a live captioning system that is good at maths?

The three texts about AI coding I recommend the most:

1. Computer Power and Human Reason, by Joseph Weizenbaum

2. Ironies of Automation, by Lisanne Bainbridge

3. Extreme Programming Explained, by Kent Beck

Hi, I got a couple questions that aren’t answered on your transparency page yet.

• Has AI been used to create this?
• Two AI communities are on top of your communities list. Your terms talk about preventing AI scraping, yet your platform seems to welcome “AI founders”. How does this go together?
• Where is the source code?
• Your terms talk about monetization through Normals Plus. Can you elaborate on this?

Okay, only one person accused me of using AI because of my productivity, but still.

I write php and use mysql, I'm a hippie bruh

He’s watching. Do not speak to andy piper, andy piper speaks to you only if he wishes.

Yes. They could just not set them at all in the published source, and just set them in their deployment. They are at least dishonest about the reasons for keeping the source closed, which is sad.

who, or what, is “andy piper”?

@hrefna Finally! That release date moved around more than an old Windows install estimate.

The first beta version for Mastodon 5.0 is now available!

After testing it on mastodon.social for a few weeks, we believe that this version is stable enough to be deployed by others, so if you like testing our new things feel free to install this beta version and report any bugs your find on GitHub or our community forum (https://community.joinmastodon.org/)

We expect the final release to happen within the next 2-3 weeks.

I think where @ArneBab and I disagree is due to perspective, and the way that perspective changes attitude.

If you believe, as Arne appears to, that antisemitism is a phenomenon of foreign state actors coming into a space and bringing their hate, and if you believe that once the Nazis were removed from Germany, life for Jews was good, then you can be optimistic. "All we have to do is one thing, and it will go back to normal!"

If you are Jewish, then you don't see it the same way. Yes, the foreign influence is the most immediate issue, but the damage is done, and even before that, "baseline" was not so wonderful.

I also don't see this as political. I don't think "If the left wins, everything will be good" nor do I think "If the right wins, everything will be good.". Antisemites on the left in Canada are the most vocal, but they exist on the right as well.

In the US, both left and right are equally vocal.

And in much of Europe, it's equally right and left.
