I want us to celebrate our victories, but not let go of our spears and torches as we dance. Celebration is energy. Maintain vigilance and purpose. Always.
@Catawu exactly
Oh nice, first Beta of Mastodon 5.0 is out. That means: v5 can't be far!
@thomas new UI sounds nice but the 2 features I'd rather have are nowhere to be seen 🫤
Take a breath, enjoy this day, and then remember: this is just the beachhead. Yesterday was D-Day. Next, we need to march to Berlin.
Now that we've regained Congress, we still have to fight: fight to get Schumer and Jeffries off their asses; fight to force witnesses to appear at Congressional hearings even when DOJ refuses to prosecute; fight to convince voters that we *are* doing good things even though Trump's veto means we won't actually pass any good legislation; fight to win again in 2028.
Yesterday was awesome! Relax today and catch your breath! Then saddle up again, because D-Day itself didn't end fascism. Forward!
@msbellows We have to fight to remove Schumer and Jeffries from leadership. Full stop. That is the most important thing on our agenda now.

📚 The future of library access depends on protecting libraries’ digital rights!
Libraries should not have to choose between serving their communities and navigating unsustainable eBook pricing, restrictive licensing agreements, and limited access to digital collections.
It’s time to move beyond voluntary publisher negotiations and advocate for fair, transparent, and sustainable digital lending agreements.
Crypto and AI super PACs spent $250 million on the midterms. In competitive races, their candidates got clobbered: nine losses out of 12 called so far, including Ohio, where crypto spent $64 million and still couldn’t beat Sherrod Brown.

@molly0xfff guess they did not consult their ai. 😅
@reb Right now, Apple doesn't have a military and the UK does.
In 1989 Pepsi was briefly the 6th largest naval power in the world and, were apple to aspire to those kinds of numbers, I imagine they could do some damage.
@ajroach42 unfortunately i don't think the ICO will get authorisation to point cannons at Apple just because they're not cooperating with a right-to-be-forgotten request by one bloke in the countryside :(

How long will they keep bombing universities, colleges, and the students inside them?
My sister's university was bombed. By luck, she wasn't there that day. Luck. That is all that stood between my family and a funeral!!
Students carry books, not weapons. Classrooms are not targets. Education is not a crime.
How long will this brutality go on? How long will the world watch and stay silent?
Say it loudly: stop the #genocide and #freeplastine .

Love that my android phone has a smart lock feature that is supposed to keep it unlocked when it's at my house, but because Google doesn't understand fractional addresses, it thinks my house is one house over, and it only unlocks my phone if I'm at the neighbors' house

I dunno Mr. Jeffries. I can’t speak to the feelings of all Americans, but personally, I absofuckinglutely want to get even. I want to get even, and then get more. I want the companies, the people, the entire machine behind this fascist nonsense, to suffer and get beaten back and dismantled so hard they never try again.
Hmm... Octopus's blogpost about removing gas meters for free has been deleted.
Let's see what happens!

Wow, I can't believe I've completed the set and participated in four tracks, one for each of the four #bonkwave compilation albums in 'The Four Seasons of Bonk Wave'.
Before this community re-awoke me I hadn't really done any music for 15 years after feeling shamed away from it!
Thank you, you lovely bunch!
The four tracks ...

I'm going to try something new.
This thread is a Claim Sales for some vintage books.
Each book will be posted in it's own post, with a price and additional info, obvious problems, etc. If you want the book, respond to the post with "claim" or thereabouts and I'll reach out to arrange shipping.
I'm asking for $5 flat rate shipping within the US for any number of books.
Mostly this will be old scifi paperbacks, but there are some other misc. titles that will enter play as well.
My phone's camera isn't the best, so please let me know if you'd like better photos.
I can take payment via paypal or venmo. If you must, I'll consider cash app.
