I need to review years of photos and I’m wondering, does anyone recommend any software (proprietary or open source—honestly, I don’t mind proprietary, I just have a preference for OSS) to help me do that?
I bought an expensive duffle coat a few years ago thinking it'd make me look cool like Liam Gallagher but instead it makes me look like Uncle Albert. I'm 49. It's in the wardrobe never to be worn again
@fesshole at least your sorted for fancy dress parties I guess...

Is there a way to not see duplicate of the same topic across different communities?
Hi everyone!
I’m really enjoying the Fediverse through Lemmy and Peertube.
Two creators I enjoy and follow on the Fediverse are Dash and Gardiner Bryant (both work on The Bryant Review) as their content is really enjoyable.
Sadly they are the target of my post as they shares their content on many different communities that I follow.
Today I had 5 times the same topic on RetroDeck (great project too) on my feed on Lemmy (Voyager).
It is the same on PieFed (Interstellar).
This is really annoying and I haven’t found a way to not show these duplicates. Do you know about one or is it worked on?
Also when crossposting, it would be great if everything appeared under on post. Is it feasible?
Sorry if it’s easy and I just missed it. In a way I hope it is because it would mean that the Fediverse is festure rich😇
Edit: Added Dash as she was in fact the one who published the article. Also it appears that the issue is only on mobile apps since both the browser of Lemmy and PieFed don’t have it.
Edit 2: Using the Progressive Web App of PieFed seems to have solved the issue for me
When can we start impeachment?
Like today, maybe late afternoon?
@stux I think it’s a bad idea:
A) you need 67 seats in the senate, so it’s risky - would still need 13 republicans to support it
B) it would put JD in charge and he’d be incumbent for the next elections; it might help JD be elected on his own name in 2028
C) I am hoping they spend their energies Mamdani-style on showing how progressive politics can improve people’s lives
I need to find more people on fedi that do sewing and other fibercrafts

@pmcg @kimlockhartga and that will put me on the list how???
@Mrfunkedude @kimlockhartga haha the NSA ain’t on here
@_inside Two weeks later: "Okay, so I've made it flash rainbow colors now…"
@twostraws @_inside And if you find a fast enough turntable you could have a holographic projection. Imagine the possibilities!
This would be fun. Popcorn anyone? 🍿

Hi, it seems the pkgs logic is flawed in slackfetch, all packages with names ended with _slack15.0 are counted as unofficual now, while in fact they are from official repo updates.
Fixed in slackfetch 1.2.2; _slack15.0 packages are now correctly recognized as official. Thanks you.
Not even, just on Lemmy itself, you will usually meet the same people in different communities
Very true

Spare a thought for the doomers, who are having to work extra hard today to convince us that fighting back is hopeless.
Tu peux voter pour les élections USA autres que la présidentielle ? Si oui, comment ça se passe, tu es rattaché à un territoire? Ou y a des représentants du type de nos "députés des français de l'étranger"?
@Azen bonne question ! 😬
@thatkatharine gosh, research that says that thing that all us covid cautious folk said was happening is actually happening? say it aint so!
@mattblaze @medusaskirt And maybe Ukraine bombing Russian data centres.
@newstik @medusaskirt Russian data centers had nothing to do with any of the things I was discussing.

Considering the move to Lemmy or hosting with a custom architecture
So far, I like what’s been built here. There are a few things I’d change, but they’re not dealbreakers. My main concern is the voting system and how it works. Otherwise, Lemmy seems like a solid option. I’m not sure how much voting can be disabled or changed on an instance.
I’m considering either hosting a Lemmy instance for nightash.net, where I currently run a traditional forum, or building something closer to the architecture I described here .
I’d appreciate feedback, especially from people who might be interested in using it.
Maybe worth considering moving to Mbin instead? Piefed from what I can tell is somewhere in the middle of the two.
Otherwise, if you self-host, put the limit to some astronomical level so no human would reach it. Or comment the limit out if possible.
