Root-based remote attestation of client devices against the user's interests should simply be illegal in any liberal democracy, just like how selling user data without consent or exfiltrating user data to hostile foreign countries is. There is legitimate use for this technology for the user to attest a server, or for one of your devices to verify the other (as e.g. GrapheneOS allows you to do), but this kind of use of the tech must stop.
The German govt is rolling out a digital driver's license:
https://www.heise.de/news/Digitaler-Fuehrerschein-kommt-Ende-November-11509430.html
And, from day 1 - in 2026, yes - it only works on OS images allowlisted by two American companies, Google and Apple. Sanctioned by the US government, like e.g. the ICC judges? Can't use your _German_ digital driver's license.
In any sane society this would have been flagged as a massive issue and have simply stopped the app from launching in the first place.

@mtconleyuk comedy is legal again
I'm just a simple European but when you ask me what "American Greatness" should mean I would reply with
"Real American greatness is fighting for the little ones, creating equality, fairness, looking our for another"
and not:
"To rebuild a white nationalist christian America"
The latter is what the Nazi's also said
@stux 👍👍👍 Souhlasím. Dobře vyjádřeno.😀
Democracy to Black, Hispanic, Muslim, young, and progressive voters - and women: THANK YOU.
Democrats must not fail you again.
As for uneducated, white, male voters: Go back to your caves or change your ways.

Every now and then Big Tech will shoot themselves in the foot and send waves of disappointed users our way. Yesterday was one of these days, as Google doubled down on their efforts to force AI down everyone's throats — this time school students.
So if you're a teacher, a school administrator, or know anyone on any school boards, anywhere in the world...would you kindly let them know that there is an independent European alternative with no AI? We'd love to talk!
@Vivaldi trying to really promote Vivaldi, one challenge is around syncing of profiles for 365 users - hate to say but Edge has the edge - there’s no SSO for Vivaldi right ?
But won’t somebody please think of the billionaires?
Every single county. By double digits.

@alisynthesis No doubt these kinds of flips are mirrored at local levels all across the US right now
@mrowster I hope all these people are ready to work, because there is a LOT to do, at least in my neck of the woods.
NH has had a really rough time the last few years, as the target of a Libertarian takeover of our state. They have kinda merged with MAGA to create a coalition that is tearing our schools apart, decimating state revenue, etc.
(If you haven't heard of the Free State Project... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_State_Project)
And most of the people responsible for the smoothness with which this election proceeded are relatively anonymous, toiling away at the unglamorous work that quietly keeps democracy running. We owe them all a great debt.

Let’s just peruse the list this morning: https://www.advocate.com/politics/election/lgbtq-midterm-election-winners-2026
Unfortunately, it looks like political BS is infecting threat reports now.
This morning a journalist asked my opinion on this attack campaign, referencing a Crowdstrike writeup: https://www.crowdstrike.com/en-us/blog/vapor-panda-uses-artex-to-scale-global-campaign/
The first paragraph already had my eyebrows comically high (emphasis mine):
CrowdStrike OverWatch identified a VAPOR PANDA campaign using ARTEX alongside the Chinese-developed DeepSeek large language model (LLM) and a second commercial LLM to conduct intrusions against multiple high-value targets in parallel.
Oh really? This is what we're doing now? We're making sure everyone knows DeepSeek is CHINESE DEVELOPED, but not even naming the US models used by the attacker? (Claude and Grok, by the way)
Zscaler's writeup is 1000% better in terms of listing all the actual facts, regardless of whether they might put the company's respective CEOs in an awkward situation at a dinner party with AI leaders at some point.
Both shamelessly push products in the recommendations section, but that's par for the course.
