Houston is enjoying significantly cooler temperatures this morning, in the 50s, with lower humidity. November-like weather should now persist for awhile across the region. The biggest question is whether the atmosphere will line up to support rain this weekend, or not.
This is part of Talarico's speech last night, and it emphasizes what I would like to see more of. I'm exhausted by the nastiest and vengeful bullshit that the Trump administration exemplifies:
"And to the Texans who didn't vote for me, I will be your senator too. I will always ... I will always serve you. I will always fight for you. This win is not about the Democratic Party or the Republican Party. It's much bigger than that," he said.
"We united Texans from all backgrounds and beliefs under one team to take off this broken, corrupt political system. First-time voters, three-time Trump voters, working people from every corner of the state who are fed up and ready for change," he added.
I'm not excited to win, because winning is important to me, I'm excited for the possibility of life getting easier and better for everyone.

I'm just a simple European but when you ask me what "American Greatness" should mean I would reply with
"Real American greatness is fighting for the little ones, creating equality, fairness, looking our for another"
and not:
"To rebuild a white nationalist christian America"
The latter is what the Nazi's also said

I'm 52 and don't read much. The glasses next to my bed are almost exclusively wanking glasses. I would imagine there are many many more out there.
@fesshole I'm confused- what exact purpose do they serve? Do you wear them because you enjoy the fantasy of looking like a school marm? Do you have a very intricate technique of rubbing one out and need to monitor it closely? Is it special glasses and you somehow hump them? Don't keep us hanging???
In Missouri in 2024 WE voted for MO Constitutional Amendment 3: the Right to Reproductive Freedom.
And yet it was mostly Republicans that got elected that election, too. So of course they were like "erm, maybe we'll ignore that".
So it was on the ballot again this year - repeal the amendment? Now with additional transphobia baked in, as if that would sway people to change their minds.
The vote to APPEAL the Right to Reproductive Freedom was REJECTED.

![2024 Missouri Constitutional Amendment 3, also known as the Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative, was a constitutional amendment that appeared on the ballot on November 5, 2024. The initiative amended the Constitution of Missouri to legalize abortion in Missouri until fetal viability.[1] On December 23, 2024, the measure amended the Missouri Constitution to provide the right for reproductive freedom, defined as "the right to make and carry out decisions about all matters relating to reproductive health care, including but not limited to prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, birth control, abortion, miscarriage care, and respectful birthing conditions."[2] The amendment narrowly passed.[3]](https://cdn.masto.host/mastodongamedevplace/media_attachments/files/117/558/384/687/101/687/original/0a712b770a143750.png)
@tapbots Pressing spacebar when a video is open in it’s own window closes it in Ivory. I would expect play/pause when looking at a video.
I get the logic: spacebar is also a pageup (shift+spacebar is pagedown). However, you can close the video window with escape, so there is really no need for the spacebar to close the window.
@doekman Videos and photos are using the same media viewer and we adopted the quick-look paradigm to quickly be able to show and hide the window.

My dad used to play"Go now" by the Moody Blues at the end of the evening, to encourage people to leave the pub. We played it as the last song at his funeral. I think he'd have liked that. I miss him.

@RickiTarr I'm just happy that a blue Congress may be able to dial down the chaos for the next couple of years. I'd like to see them pass some popular legislation like Medicare for All and campaign finance reform and watch the President veto them, setting up the Republicans for another bloodbath in 2028.
