And here is the one with the bricks. No squiggle worm artifacting. Still low resolution. (I'll do this again with a real camera another day.)
I may not be "a photographer" but my camera is my memory it is NOT allowed to lie. This is a big deal to me.

@lritter No, I don't. Optimism is actually the more rational choice because of how our brains work.
You see, in order to have a purpose in life, you have to get shit done. In order to get shit done, you have to plan. Planing means setting goals. Setting goals mean that you gotta have some understanding of the end result you're working to, and you have to have some understanding that this end result is actually achievable. And that is an optimistic outlook.
Pessimism, on the other hand, is a loser's self-fulfilling prophecy. You can't set your targets when your midnset is "I'll never gonna hit them". You're just not going to work for them, because - what's the point. So nothing gets done, nothing gets delivered, and you're just sitting there revelling in your hollow intellectual victory over your better self.
Fuck that shit, I'd rather expect myself to have some sort or gegree of success and do something - even if I'll actually fail.
Works for other people and groups too.

@neil it's almost like you're in my room. That flooring is very similar.
@GoingDownWithSundial Yes, very similar floor! But I have checked carefully, and I can't see anyone with such natty socks in my office :(
@thomholwerda @hbons Care to comment? ;)
@reinouts @thomholwerda 🤷 I’ve no involvement with the Disks project.
Yesterday I ported Faircamp's full-featured and battle-tested volume controls to Hyper 8's video player (which so far only featured a loud/medium/muted toggle). \o/
This control has ~weeks of work in it already (mine and that of accessibility auditors/testers/etc.), and still I'm highly tempted to revisit it sometime again hehe. Crazy how complex a volume knob can get if you properly address responsive click/hover/touch/keyboard behaviors, accessibility, and Apple's whimsical limitations of the Web audio API on iOS devices (no fine grained volume control, for whatever reason). :)

I suddenly had that moment of enternal deep dread listening to Alicia Framis who married an #AI / #metahuman

Found via #society5 in #Amsterdam
I think this is the moment when I feel old and more concerned about the future of humanity. I thought it might be when I started seeing deep cyberpeople but this one has got me.
Thinking about blaerunner 2049 and Her.
America, you got this
@oatmeal and still so many states failed to clear that low bar.
