@futurebird i just skimmed it more than a decade ago, but https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/statistics-in-a/9781449361129/ might be on the right level?
@psentee
"Access Denied" ?
What is the title?
algernon dreams of a Fedi client that supports multiple "mouse makes rocks do math" threads, and other stuff
Maybe I should look at mastodon.el, and see if I can build something usable out of that.
Investors are slowly realizing that AI is actively hurting businesses.
First it was sites like Chegg and Stack Overflow losing traffic.
Now AI-driven memory shortages are hurting PC sales, while Google’s search ad revenue growth slows as users increasingly get answers without clicking on ads.
AI is creating losers, not just winners.
@carnage4life Likely anybody in the ad business (or ad supported business) will be underwater. This includes almost every content producing website. It seems AI is a snake eating its own tail.

I wanted to let it create a manga about a person who can’t draw a manga so it turns to an ai to draw a manga of a person who let an ai create a manga in which a person wants to draw but can’t so that it gets an ai to draw a manga about a person who can’t draw and so…
But I needed to make an account so I didn’t.

Fuck your #AIslop generator that steals content to power its fake creativity.
How much C02 does each image add to the atmosphere.
A tool for losers.

@Eatsbluecrayon That’s a great #DID moment, too!
Small sidenote: if you want to save space, there’s ogg opus as target format. I found 36kbps to be fully sufficient for most music (20% of the size of mp3s).
If you want to ensure full quality, you can rip as flac.
But only mp3 works with every device you may use (which is why I re-encode ogg opus to mp3 to listen to it on the kitchen radio).
@ArneBab I am not a big audiophile, so mp3 is absolutrely sufficient. :)
I haven't found out how to convert the WAVs I get from EAC to mp3. I have to make a detour via the VLC player to do that. But that's okay. Someday I will find out how to do that.
Today's #Muppets GIF of the Day is...
There were six outlets worth of wiring in that junction box. I'm not sure I can fit the Wago connectors back in and might have to make a decorative cover instead.
@th If it wouldn't result in having an oddly fitting light fixture in the middle of the room, I usually get out the drywall saw and replace it with a full size junction box.. my OCD won't allow me to shove that many connections back in the box without being able to eyeball all of the connections before closing it up. Good luck!
Happy Halloween 💀
Meanwhile in Mexico City:
Wow.
is there... an ... elegant, slim, mathematically robust HS level book on statistics?
This will sound a little gauche but most of the books just have way too many words and not enough content.

The EU–Canada Summit in Montréal opened a new chapter in our partnership 🇪🇺🇨🇦
At our Digital Partnership Council, we agreed to deepen cooperation on AI, connectivity and digital identity.
Canada joins EuroHPC as its 39th participating state to boost supercomputing, AI and quantum together with Europe.
We'll also step up work on Arctic connectivity and the interoperability of our digital identities & credentials.
Inspiring visits to Nokia & Bell, Scale AI, Mila and LawZero.
@HennaVirkkunen this is excellent. I am a dual Canadian and Spanish citizen. I am also a technologist and open social server maintainer.
Some EU countries have made good steps to shift their social media out of the corporate America/Chinese walled social media and onto sovereign open platforms like here on the #Fediverse and #Mastodon.
As both a citizen and maintainer of a personal and a community Canadian open social servers, how do we use the new Canada EU partnership to grow our sovereign social spaces together?
