We've come full circle.
After ditching video streaming, now I've started MP3ing my many, many CDs, because I am so fucking sick of streaming music.
Well, not streaming per se. It's still a good idea. But I want my money in the hands of the artists, not financing some locusts and weapon traders.
I think Soundcloud and such are okay-ish. But I have so many CDs, I don't need any subscription models. And if I want new music - there's always bandcamp!
@Eatsbluecrayon That’s a great #DID moment, too!
Small sidenote: if you want to save space, there’s ogg opus as target format. I found 36kbps to be fully sufficient for most music (20% of the size of mp3s).
If you want to ensure full quality, you can rip as flac.
But only mp3 works with every device you may use (which is why I re-encode ogg opus to mp3 to listen to it on the kitchen radio).
