Just fuck off @SocialCommentaryBot ya fucking dickhead.
@dgar Yeah, I'm the guy who's a dickheard for thinking about the implications of your post...
... and you're a fucking hero for posting unexamined dross of the sort you'd expect from a Trump supporter.
Pfft.

We are planning to release new Mastodon security updates for versions 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7 and nightly this Thursday, Oct 29, at around 14:00 UTC.
It solves a critical severity security issue.
We encourage server administrators to plan for an update in the hours following the release to ensure their instance is protected. These versions will not require database migrations.
@MastodonEngineering Thanks for the heads-up — good to know these versions will not require database migrations. Is there anything server admins should check before the Thursday release, or is it a straightforward update?
@georgetakei The kid has mad skills. He's a star already. I see some celebrities got involved. Good. Some people lose their minds over kids' sports, especially Karens and their hubbies.
A DOOM-style raycaster lives inside a TrueType font's hinting bytecode, and the browser draws its 3D walls by re-hinting one glyph
The thing I miss about public speaking is the feeling of taking on a hostile audience. Gripping the podium like it's a small boat you are about to row into a storm
@benroyce you can do this America, #VoteDammit!
In this episode Dr. Bashir solves a B-plot problem with an explosion at the end of the episode because the solution to the A-plot was too boring to air, so it gets explained away with a voiceover but actually is the link to the delta quadrant.

What’s Left for ‘Pro and Tell’ Week: Touch-Enabled OLED MacBooks
https://daringfireball.net/linked/2026/10/27/whats-left-for-pro-and-tell-week
@daringfireball I hope this is a “2-in-1” style flip laptop like all those Windows ones that have been around for eons. Not much point for a touch screen if you can’t use it as a tablet with a stylus. Will be interesting to see whatever it is. I miss the days when leaks were rare and we were actually surprised by “one more thing.”
@jae@soc.dctui.me moon is rockin like dokken. so far it’s working with cofe. lit.
@puppygirlhornypost2 Until you uncheck a nondescript box in the LibreWolf settings labeled "ResistFingerprinting" (lack of space in original), all copies of LibreWolf claim to be in UTC, so that you don't leak information to websites about what time zone you are in, which means all times will be shown for you in UTC, which will be incorrect without you knowing why.
@mcc @puppygirlhornypost2 Sounds like it needs semantic markup of times, so the client can choose to render it. But it has to be in a way that the DOM and rendered result (or their attributes) itself cannot be read for fingerprinting.[1]
[1] Like, for example, reading the rendered width of a string with a proportional font, and making that a web font full of weird characters of prime widths that enable inference of the rendered value.
I only go to the profile tab to get to the account switcher since I run multiple channels, yet even that gets moved around—dare I say—willy nilly
We gotta calm it down with the A/B tests, yall
I swear half the time I open the YouTube app there's a different UI on the profile tab

Tamara, The Hero of Ramallah
Made a music video praising this woman. YouTube did not like it, but doesn’t matter. It’s in Vimeo while I appeal it, and it’s a joy I can dance to anytime I want. Wouldn’t mind sharing this catharsis with other pro-Palestine people.
She single-handedly took down one of the Internet’s worst pro-IDF propaganda couples. Thank you, Tamara.

@elomatreb Yeah, I tend to forget we're in very postmodern times.
when your compiler computes liveness and dataflow on a per-block basis so spilling actually makes the situation worse, because it inserts shorter-lived variables that are still seen as living the whole block
compilers are magic
