This reminds me that mankind always used the most current technological context to explain mysterious concepts, regardless of actual fitting.

How minds work is still wrongly explained through computer analogies to this day, how LLMs work is wrongly explained through sentience analogies, etc…

Well this is actually the root of the problem. USians not caring about politics until they are personally affected. Of course you didnt have to think about Obama, because he was only slaughtering brown people in foreign countries and not on your doorstep.
