@trebach This data was very publicly described as being air gapped. I was even shown photos of EPS' airgapped system to access the Crimestoppers system in a separate room and apparently, when an award was given, they'd work to meet at a random park bench or other place to give it in cash.
How was this system broken down? There's some really serious risks here for observers and victims.

Federated Groups!
Group functionality continues to mature for Bonfire Community, so I recommend that everyone ought to check out a group to join! I ended up joining Fediverse Memes from Feddit, but any group from Lemmy, NodeBB, MBin, or PieFed ought to work!
Hi, greetings from PieFed. I see two posts in this group/community: “Circle Up” and this one I’m commenting on. The other posts don’t federate it seems.
Looking forward to more interconnections between the threadiverse and fedizen.
Apparently, Google cut down a load of trees to make room for another data centre.
Believe it or not, I didn't use AI to draw this realistic tree.
Haven't they read the Lord of the Rings books, or seen the movies?

Crimestoppers is an institution and often trusted by reporters' lives.
A breach of this is indescribable.
These systems are supposed to be air-gapped and kept in completely separate rooms, away from any other technology. When I did the EPS Citizen's Police Academy, Crimestoppers prided itself on anonymity. This brings it into question.
This is a complete breach of trust at the highest level, and I don't know if Crimestoppers can recover from this.
This CBC reporting doesn't go far enough. They have access to the data via DDoSecrets, but it doesn't genuinely show how many tips are in the data, what they are associated with, or the severity or extent of the impact on Canadians.
I've worked with DDoSecrets data before, and I have a good relationship with them. I will NOT touch this with a ten-foot pole. This is genuinely dangerous data.

They’re like the UK far right, call themselves the party of “protecting our wimmin an’ gurlz” while half of them have convictions for domestic abuse and the other half cheer on women getting beaten on the head and dragged by the hair for heckling.
And people still fall for it :(

I saw a clip from Jordon Klepper or similar, covering CPAC. Ranswami had just given a speech and one of the attendees said:
he said a lot of things I like, but I just can’t support him… because of 911. 😂
