For the love of Pete, don't use Claude to write your engineering documents. They come out half sales presentation and are painfully in the business register.

Well I'll be damned. Ol' boring Berkshire Hathaway has been beating the market, including the techie S&P.
@elight Warren didn't raise up no fools.
The poll found that likely voters favor Bobby Pulido 51% to 44% over Republican Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz. Among Latino likely voters, the gap widens, with about 57% for Pulido, compared with 40% for De La Cruz. https://www.texasobserver.org/poll-bobby-pulido-flip-15th-congressional-district/

It is self evident that "stopping the Republicans now will only allow them in later" is a shit reason for not stopping the Republicans now.
No; you need to provide a long-term alternative that actually works.
In two party politics that the US system is set up to enforce, the opposition often moves to the centre where they see their lost votes lying. Republicans winning draws the Democrats to the right. It's been such a long time since the Democrats held all three branches that they have drifted a long way to the right.
And there it is. There are three problems here: First, where's your proof that this is what's going on? Second, before 2024 the Republicans hadn't had all three branches for even longer than the Democrats either yet they kept moving away from the center, so what's up with that? Third, polling has been exceptionally clear on what voters want for ages now and it is emphatically not centrist bullshit. Hell, progressive candidates keep winning all over the place. Why do the Democrats not understand that? Are they so stupid that they can't even read what the polls say? Keep in mind that this is an extraordinary claim that requires extraordinary evidence.
Your can pull the Overton window s l o w l y to the left by not letting the Republicans win.
Again, you need to explain why this doesn't work the other way around, since the Republicans seem very able to sell their policy positions even when they're not in power, but also: Have you seen what the polls say? The Overton window has been at least in the center-left for ages and it's having zero impact on the Democratic establishment's policy. The Democratic Party is well to the right of its electorate.

It’s a metaphor for my interpretation of current political discord. Rather it’s sarcastic is immaterial the fact that it’s getting such a visceral reaction from folks is far more interesting considering it’s meant to be nothing more then an observation.
You know if we just crash the bus sooner everything would be better.
So this is your interpretation, or your wording of someone else’s?
Also I hear the driver picked music no one likes - let’s cancel him
The driver is trump, and the music is extrajudicial detention of anyone with an accent or slightly browner skin plus concurrent flattening of Gaza, war in Iran etc etc?
then all argue over what music is crash appropriate.
What do you suggest?
Total honest question to my dear Fedi friends, I need a genuine answer, please do not sugarcoat things. I need Dutch bluntness here!
So you have been following #MySoCalledSudoLife adventures for almost two years now.
I'm not sure how to define myself anymore because I'm not an expert at this stuff, but I am no longer a newbie either. Yesterday I updated all my systems using CLI (in tmux)!
Now, my main point after my long preamble:
I want to create custom apparel for the next #FOSDEM, as an act of rebellion against the rejection for our proposal of a DEIB room.
I used to make sweatshirts and t-shirts to promote the visibility of women in film, like: "this is what a film director looks like" or just t-shirts that read "film director". I gifted them to prominent women in film, who LOVED them and wore them on set!
I'd like to do something similar but for FOSDEM / tech.
Is it too much to say: "this is what a sysadmin looks like"? Can I call myself a sysadmin, or would you find it sacrilegious?
Anything else? Like, other suggestions along the lines of "this is what a ----- looks like" or "sysadmin"?
Thanks! 🙏
Dear future #FOSDEM speakers / devroom organizers / attendees, will you take the #FOSDEMPledge ?

i feel like electronic components used to be more colorful 50 years ago. you still see the cyan zif sockets and the red dip switches sometimes. but what happened to all their friends? theyve all grown up and become boring. now instead of legs theyve got. balls?? its a strange world we're in now
@jk I want to find a stash of colourful ICs now and try to design a circuit that uses them, and build it maybe a white PCB? It would look amazing.
