@AbandonedAmerica how dare you?! you should've painted over all of it before taking the photo, obviously!!! :P
@lashman that would take a lot more paint than I have, and a lot more patience too 😊

@lightspill the log message does say systemd but i suppose nura isn't exactly a typical os, so maybe there's something...off.
@bridget I deleted LinkedIn at the time I deleted Twitter. I went through a "does it spark joy" social media stage and LinkedIn most definitely did not. It was always full of hyperbole, and now it's full of social as well. Ugh.
@bridget I used to joke that the original joke was that the biggest lie on the internet was, "I have read the TOS" but that now it was LinkedIn bios. 😊 #LinkedIn #BiggestLieOnInternet
@tmw@ioc.exchange Oh, no. I thought it was the Systemd lingering process killer. Which hit me in similar ways.

Spotify has taken aggressive action against low-quality, AI-generated music spam by removing 50 million tracks that were flooding its platform. - https://www.digitaltrends.com/movies/spotify-has-kicked-50-million-ai-slop-tracks-out-of-your-recommendations/
@vitaut it was free
@AbandonedAmerica aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!!!
@LauraJG hahaha yes. Yes indeed.
@elsemusic such a sweet guitar! 🫶
@dgar When my marriage broke up I lost the Yamaha acoustic guitar I'd bought when I was seventeen. It was a complicated time.
I knew the owner of a local guitar store. When I had some money of my own I went in and started testing guitars. I was looking at Yamahas and even Martins, but Alastair pulled one out and said "try this". I loved it.
It's an SX, not a brand I knew or would have considered. And it was the same price as an entry level Yamaha.

Trump’s effort to undermine the midterms is already underway, and it starts with deciding whose ballots are suspect. His Justice Department wants California to set votes aside based on claims it admits it can’t verify. The right to vote means little if those in power can decide which votes count. Vote early. https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/trump-midterms-election-registration

@AbandonedAmerica Nice!!! I’m gonna go shopping!
@JimKofron hit me up if you have any questions, I'm always here to help. Until I'm not, I guess?
@wjmaggos I'd separate this into three topics: 1. social sharing of events ("here's my event" / "I am going!") 2. open ticketing platform with payments 3. breaking up the LiveNation monopoly.
For 1. ActivityStreams has Invite and Accept activities, and Event objects. The problem has been confusion how to implement this in practice. There's been lots of work to iron out these problems. See Mobilizon and @blog as practical examples. I wrote about this here: fedi.exon.name/2024/12/27/even…
For 2. see @pretix. But the work @benpate has been doing on Emissary to add payment platforms and support musicians is strongly related too. For managing the tickets on your phone, I've heard that Google Pass and Apple Wallet are actually surprisingly open standards, and now Good Enough.
For 3. you're on your own. The USA is a failed state, and LiveNation just one of several petty warlords fighting over the rubble. So the thing to do is concentrate on preventing LiveNation happening in other countries.
Yeah, 1 would be easy / has already been done.
Doing 2 well would be a ton of work: including day-of scanners to authenticate access . I’ve seen some pretty cool digital tickets that integrate into Apple Wallet.
And 3 would be damn near impossible, take an act of Congress, and even then it’s probably not guaranteed.
Maybe a conference ticketing system would be easier?
Before Adolph Hitler, Germany was the world's science center. But his censorship, budget cuts, and anti-intellectualism drove a generation of scientists away.
Something similar is happening in the U.S. thanks to Donald Trump.
Americans will only see the effects of these particular Trump actions in about 10-15 years.

@mattsheffield And Republicans. Republicans are also responsible. Trump would be a stupid ugly old orange man with no power if it were not for the Republicans. They have participated in the destruction of America's present and future.

@AbandonedAmerica When your situation settles down I'd certainly like to know more details, particularly what steps you took, how various Federal agencies (if any, particularly the US customs agencies) responded, how various distribution companies (such as Amazon) responded, and the like.
(In my dual life, besides being a network techie I am also a lawyer with an interest in intellectual property.)
The situation that landed on you is going to become increasingly common; knowing how you and others responded could be quite useful to new victims.
@karlauerbach in this case it's not gone beyond filling out trademark infringement forms on Amazon and YouTube and bickering with the latter when they refused to do anything.
To be fair, PHP 4 is safe. They got something right.
@AbandonedAmerica Amazon did something right? That's a nice twist to this story.
@MFennVT right? I was so surprised!
This is so infuriating and disgusting!
I'm sorry this happened to you, and I'll totally understand if you stop sharing your amazing work online.
Readers can complain on Amazon about these things (not you, but your fans).
@Firlefanz I agree, and thank you. Unfortunately AI has led to my new, post AI work being shared on Patreon. My older work is still available though because that's all been ingested already so no point in removing it, and that's thousands of pages of stuff
