@ajroach42 I still dig that song, and I don't know much else about My Chemical Romance.
@arrrg I was a much Bigger fan of 3 cheers for sweet revenge, which is old enough to drink.

@MaggieFero docs can impact security!
Preset auth material (default passwords), anti-recommended settings, and revealing potential vulnerabilities are all potentially impactful and regularly show up in docs
@MaggieFero AI greatly improves discovery
- secrets in commits
- creds in commits
- live keys in common crawl
Credential abuse is still 13% of breach causes. Security by obscurity is already failing, AI makes it even worse
You know you're a grownup sysadmin when your default reaction to things working is "suspiciously functional"
@moira the phone number belongs to"Creative Realities" cri.com "...is a full service digital signage solutions company..." No surprise there

Just a reminder that the clocks go back tonight and that time isn't real 👍
@TheBreadmonkey thus begins the liminal space where the US and the UK time difference gets weird. we don't switch until november 1.
whenever I see a disclaimer like "some of the assets were stolen but I decided which ones" that translates in my head to "everything in this game is stolen"
game developers should be required to get past the title screen of their game in any way using Steam Input before they can put their game or demo on Steam
that can be as simple as having it set to mouse mode and making the quit button clickable
but it's just absurd to me that Valve lets people release games with broken Steam Input configurations but won't let them release games that, for example, claim to have achievements but don't
@signalstation I went to an art show today where there were some indie horror authors and I was reminded that we haven't interacted in a few weeks.
I don't have anything noteworthy to say, but hello. I thought of you today, and I hope you're well.
Sounding the alarm for #Apple / #Macintosh fans in the US Midwest - ran across this Facebook post: A giant piie of stuff that must go in 30 days! Located in Kansas City, MO area.
I'm a big Kubuntu fan, but I'm a little shocked that for the 26.04 LTS, they decided to ship Wayland as the default session. A session in which many apps are rendered unable to remember their window position and restore it on next run. A session in which many just-launched apps are not brought to the fore, you have to raise the window as a second step. Just basic stuff that is still not quite ready for prime-time. Luckily you can still switch to an X11 session in Kubuntu...
@altaylor I recommend reading what the KDE have said about session restore: https://discuss.kde.org/t/plasma-6-8-and-session-restore/51080/10 and https://discuss.kde.org/t/plasma-6-8-and-session-restore/51080/18
Basically, kwin-x11 has been abandonware for years with lots of unfixed bugs, and the technical details behind session restore are surprisingly complicated.
Even putting aside any ethical or moral concerns, there is a drawback to holding the individual citizens responsible for the actions of the regime: If the regime falls, they'll be at risk, so it makes it in their selfish best interest to maintain the regime even if they don't want it to stand. On the other hand, if we only hold those who support the regime responsible, only those who would already consider it in their best interest to support the regime would be motivated by that fear.
In other words it's not only *right* to only hold those responsible who actually are, it's also *practical*.

In addition to questions of individual vs collective accountability there's also a huge difference between "something wrong with X" and "X is evil"
I would like to see a photographic portrait of a person wearing a vision pro, airpods with cameras, an apple watch, while holding a folding iphone and using a homeview to turn on their lights
