I am so far behind on the expectations that literally no one has for me.
@epilepticrabbit Are you imagining this?
i really like PHP. in my experience, its full of insane issues and functions called "doThingSecurely_final_FINAL". but it's a tool, like excel or hypercard, that lets a normal person make Web without years becoming a Web Developer. you could just throw it onto a server and make a view counter or whatever. just mash it in there in the HTML for some basic dynamic feature on an otherwise-static page. wow! then 'Developers' ruined it, like with javascript, by trying to use it to make actual software
the main thing that's good about the web as a medium, imo, is that you can just chuck something into a directory and then it will appear in web browsers around the world. you can edit the file and hit save and refresh. the magic that you feel is the core of the entire thing. and as far as i've seen, Web Development, as a discipline, has focused for the last few decades on systematically destroying that magic

@lina Did you successfully run that exploit? Did anyone? I've been looking around the Fediverse for one person who has reproduced that poc.
@christopherkunz Yeah it might be total BS.

@r0se I mean incus or bwrap (my workflow dating back to illumos zones), so it's just running something like apk upgrade and that's it.
No OCI, I take those as the mothers of all blobs.

Can a Raspberry Pi replace a desktop PC? These operating systems make a strong case.
@mcc@mastodon.social on a fresh install of Firefox Nightly for Android to test, I'm seeing an even weirder behaviour whereby the first load of specifically these resources succeeds, but the others below always fail, and reloading the page causes them all to fail. Clearing the app's data reproduces this repeatedly. I've disabled the relevant trust roots in my Android system trust store too(!) - @firefoxwebdevs@mastodon.social not sure if you know the right people to look at this
Looking through the ISO 7000 symbols and came across "Do Not Pet Radio Tower" (Ref No. 6167)
@TheForeignAgent Yes, it will be back in a few hours after the php vulnerability is patched!
@dansup oh OK it's true I've zeen the info this morning 👍 Thann you Dan 🤗👍☕
jfc... some people upset about the new design really feel the need to attack someone entirely unrelated to it? like I know reading comprehension on the Internet and all but damn seeing all these awful takes from people with trans flags in their bios makes me really sad.
@echo I was contemplating wading into that thread (or one of them, if there are more now) to correct the misconception until I glanced at the embossed “I will not get into an internet argument today” plaque on the wall above my desk. 🫥
Nest-expanding algorithm. I'm really sorry about all the birdposting btw. I just do it as a meditative practice. I think of an idea and then I put a bird in it. Very relaxing
