Mastodon makes me feel not as weird because the people here tend to relate to what I'm saying, but then I remember that it's just because we're all weird over here.

Day 20
Let's change it up a bit, here's a drawing of @joshavanier's monster from day 16.

Fediverse
Yeah, the last thing I remember about pillowfort is their security issues, and I hang out on Tumblr (a space it was designed as an alternative for). People weren't recommending it anymore after that, like they used to.
I tried it out before then, but it didn't hit for me. I've tried a million alternate ljs and tumblrs, so that says nothing about its quality. If you go on social media and no one wants to talk with you about what you want to talk about, it seems like a waste of time and effort.
It's a shame when independent projects like this close down, but if not enough people stepped up to help when help was needed, burnout was inevitable, and burnout can only be ignored for so long. Better to close it down like this than in a more dramatic way.
The type of people who went on pillowfort might actually be interested in fediverse alternatives. They'll reconnect on dreamwidth, probably, and post where they can be found. If Wafrn has what pillowfort users want and, more importantly, if their friends from there want to try it out with them, it could be a healthy boost of furries, lady fandom nerds, and lgbt+ people to the fediverse.

Pillowfort, a (non-federated) Tumblr-alternative, is closing down
Maybe some of its users will join the Fediverse? But where should they go, I don’t think there’s a federated Tumblr clone.
I would believe that this appeals to a broader audience if I had not heard from everyone I know who I help with Mac stuff about the horribleness of the rounded corners. I mean, they may intend to, but I don't think it's working.
@richpuchalsky yeah. I can see that. Liquid Glass in macOS made a lot of progress from v26 to v27, and there’s still a ways to go. Change is hard 😜
I'm about to launch very soon. Please sign up to be notified. And please share.

@kbal @alisynthesis yeah sorry different type of programming and yes, C is very simple… if you understand pointers 😁 (I happen to dabble a bit in computer programming and synth "programming")

Seeing all the Linux chatter today... Some thoughts I want to reiterate:
Primarily that I wish to see drivers implemented outside of any particular kernel project! I'm not talking software architecture (like switching to a micro-kernel, though that could be good) but rather organizational structure.
FOSS is at its best when its a massive suite of loosely-coordinate projects, its at its worst when we're lining up behind figure heads!
I could complain about CPU architecture, but I like repair!

@unlofl ~every mobile device in 2026 *is* infected with adware.
That's why I don't ever install anybody's app.
In the 90s at least installing stuff from trustworthy sources would usually be enough. Now, the official apps are adware too.
These projects get a lot of criticism. Why, and is it deserved?
If 90s kids saw us using todays internet, they would think we were infected with adware shit because thats absolutely too many ads its not supposed to be like that is it?!!
