#fediBookFair I write urban fantasy/queer historical romance set in Madison, WI in a very slightly alternate version of the 1960s. It's got mythology, Shakespeare, a smattering of recreational drugs...what's not to like? Links and covers below.
"systemd is now the cathedral"
@arrjay i have zero patience for people complaining about systemd nowadays
#FediBookFair is this weekend, so here goes:
Most of you know me: I'm the one who writes murder mysteries set in the Middle Ages in York (Matthew Cordwainer) and London (Gavin Rownt). I've written 20 Cordwainer novels and 11 Rownt novels.
If you like mysteries and Middle Ages, give one a try.
This #FediBookFair post is for the #Australians on this lazy Sunday morning.
I have print copies of my books to hand that I can sign with any message you desire, and #ChristmasIsComing.
So if you have someone in your life who might like a quirky, funny romantic fantasy book and appreciate an “enjoy the naughty bits, you saucy minx xxx” type message personally from the author, have a browse 😉
Available through my Payhip store at 20% off retail, with flat $11.95 postage no matter how many books you order.
And you can read sample chapters at each of the individual ebook links.

We were born as a small press specializing in African specfic, and so this is our first #fedibookfair We have published four books so far this year and you can find them on this link https://www.ododopress.com/books/
Some books are free to download, and these are classics which have been revised for a modern audience. We will do a thread with all the books so far in our catalogue.
Still some time left to apply, come join us 👽
@ai6yr @anticomposite IIRC this did happen, but more by theft than cooperation
@disser @anticomposite It looks like Freedom 250 coopted everything (they were telling donors to America 250 to instead donate to Freedom 250), and America 250 doesn't exist, with all the events organized by the grifted group. So. Unclear to me where things stand, except it all stinks.
FREE EPUB of HUMAN!
How will humans #evolve into the future? How might humans evolve if our civilization was lost and the climate was unforgiving for millions of years? Or if two populations of humans were geographically isolated for millions of years?

Well that's the earliest I've ever lost the "Mariah Carey Christmas Challenge"...
Damn.
November 2nd and I just heard the song in public. Eesh.
@tinker 11/2 is early! My sister-in-law plays a similar game, but with Little Drummer Boy.

OK, so I don't use "Google" as a generic term for searching for things on the web. I usually say "web search" or similar.
But I use Duck Duck Go, and to say I "Duck Duck Went" for something is attractive, but unwieldy.
So from here on I think that when I do a web search I'll say:
"I DD Went"
(phonetically: Eye Dee Dee Went)
@ColinTheMathmo
That sounds like a toddler saying it went to the toilet. :)
(Sorry to rain on your linguistic parade, there.)

Have any of you decided to migrate away? If so, what did you try / where did you go?
I tried IVPN and like it as a replacement for Proton VPN, but for email and calendar, my two frontrunners (Tuta and Runbox) each have drawbacks.
@darkbeth @chema @Meznor Yes, I started something, using the hosting solution I have ( davidrevoy.com , hosted at OVH) , they have a built-in webmail service. I'm trying to setup first a simple redirection and keep my protonmail account for the two years (subscription was already paid, meh) to be sure no email points to it and work on it here and there, until everything will be migrated hopefully.
For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.
How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!

Will go to bed less stupid.
