@graand I'm not feeling confident until we get a five goal cushion. That's my standing policy with the Jets.

It was my privilege to write a column at Salon for several years in the early 2000s. The people who started, built, and nurtured the site were some of the best I've known in journalism, and the site reflected their values and talent. It's a sad milestone to see Salon close. https://www.salon.com/2026/11/05/goodbye-from-salon/

@moira

Ah, mine is rather robust, but I think it is in the kid's toolbox at the moment. The box says it should only be used with a torque wrench. Which I do not recall noticing previously.

Naturally the manual is also missing. <sigh> Kids.

Anyway, I think nut is 1½", and the arms are black iron castings. Wish I had it handy to photograph.

closed source and symmetric blocking. two strikes.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

@Drain as someone who has embraced my inner goofiness, I find it endearing in others

@davatron5000 Yeah, we need some sort of current background color to use for new UA styles for form controls. It came up as my colleagues & I were proposing styles for <select> (so the picker can have a default background that inherits from author styles). So we are inventing it! Stay tuned!

Please no. Fediverse, open standards, open source, free software, no bullshit.

@heidilifeldman Don't be so sure it won't work. The opposition is only beginning to swell. Within a few says it is going to be overwhelming.

This is the most important political matter right now. Everyone should use every resource at their disposal to stop Schumer and Jeffries, and get true fighters in leadership.

It has been a fantastic day for beautiful skies. In November, when it starts to get gray and rainy, I have the habit to jump up and run outside the minute I see any sunshine. It paid off royally today, as I happened to be on the pedestrian overpass right on time for this double rainbow.

This post is written on https://normals.me and delivered to !fediverse@lemmy.world over #ActivityPub, so if you are reading it the basic plumbing works. Now let me explain what is this.

Normals is a forum with communities, threads, and questions with an accepted answer. It is a single instance, not software you can host, and the core is closed for anti-abuse reasons. The federation module will be published separately with implementation notes (FEP-67ff).

What federates today Every community is a Group actor following the Lemmy model (FEP-1b12). Follow @selfhosted@normals.me or any other community from Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin or Mastodon.

Posts and comments go both ways. Replies from your instance appear in the thread on Normals, replies from Normals go back to the origin.

Remote content is labelled with its origin, links back to it, and is never copied. Media loads from the source.

Signed fetches, so it works with instances that require authorized fetch. NodeInfo 2.1 is up.

Policies, in case they matter to you, it has no ads, and no paid reach, and of course no AI training on posts. AI crawlers blocked by default, public mod log with reasons, and no automated removals. Numbers at https://normals.me/transparency so please take a look.

If something from your instance shows up wrong here, or something from here shows up wrong on yours, reply with the URL and I'll fix it. Andy Piper mentioned NodeBB uses the same group model, if anyone runs a NodeBB instance I'd like to test against it, if possible.

I hope we all have fun. Cheers!

@molly0xfff @emma likely crypto bros use AI to calculate their math and like their products the math doesn’t math….
