I am now safe after being detained and interrogated by Israeli forces and denied entry to Palestine alongside other activists and elected representatives.

The @ScottishGreens stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
FWIW, I run @GrapheneOS on a Pixel.
This will be my third GrapheneOS device.
A genuinely excellent Android experience, with many years of support and security updates.
@neil @GrapheneOS
In 1998 I was on my third PalmOS device (Palm III), which had a 3rd-party serial cable to get online with a GSM handset. And IR HotSync with other Palm devices. But I mostly did serial HotSync with a desktop.
When you need to multiply 7*8 do you simply have it memorized, or do you need to add, subtract or otherwise connect it to another math fact that you know better?
That is do you simply think "56" or are there more thoughts that lead to 56?
@futurebird
My son's answer: He started calculating and then realised he already knew the answer. 🤔😄

“My birthday began with the water-
Birds and the birds of the winged trees flying my name
Above the farms and the white horses
And I rose
In rainy autumn
And walked abroad in a shower of all my days…”

True story: between school and university I worked in a second-hand bookshop on Broad Street in Oxford.
There was a guy who used to come in there who was late 20s and from a well-to-do family.
He used to boast that Oxfam thought he was volunteering out of the kindness of his heart, but he was actually spotting first editions, buying them for a few pounds and selling them for thousands.
@dajb thanks for sharing your story here, really appreciate it
@morebento @nickzoic @benno Oh, no worries! It’s been fun to see the thread and the music festivals sound great! I just wanted to be sure you weren’t thinking you were talking to some other “Dan York” and then wondering why he wasn’t joining in! 🤣
@danyork @nickzoic @benno glad you enjoyed it! (this is all in Adelaide, South Australia where we have an annual world music festival called Womadelaide) I’ve always been interested in Vermont, I used to have some books by Murray Bookchin who lived there, and of course Bernie Saunders. It sounds a lot like Adelaide in its liberal / progressive history. Well met!
The second you introduce your AI note-taker, the coffee is over.
A coffee is not a meeting.
Recording it changes what people will say.
Presence is the point.

@Daojoan And I am begging people to destroy and make the AI notetaker kaputt.
> I know people who've gone months, or weeks.
Is that perceived as bad now? O_o
I was out of work 2009-2013. I applied for an average -- just calculated -- of about 15 jobs per working day for that entire period. Total was ~3,500. I worked about 6-8 full-time paid weeks in those 4 years, and I got about 5 invitations to job interviews in that time. In other words, I averaged about 1 interview per 1,000 applications, roughly one per year.
This is why I emigrated.
@MonaApp the border radii look like they want more horizontal padding on the text imo
@ctietze Thank you for the feedback!

You certainly won't regret naming your fork cmxciv.
@raucao Not until just now. The peeling had started before. Using it accelerated the peeling.
@jonikorpi Personally, I like hard wax oil for surfaces like that. I apply two coats, then let it harden for a couple days before considering the surface usable.
every time they announce a new ipad i go through a yearly kinda thought process of confusion about what an ipad is even for. it isnt an actual computer, it doesnt have a proper file system, or a keyboard (just the shitty flappy fabric one), an e-reader is surely better for reading. it can take photos, but why?? watching movies on a plane maybe? annotating PDFs? procreate i guess? i think “portable digital art” is the only use case that can justify spending hundreds on something so useless????
@jk Back in the day I used to use it as a controller.
I'd have the iPad on stage and the computer close to the mixer at the other end of the room. That moment passed though, so, yeah I agree it's useless to me now.
Refreshing to see on a room-service menu.
@pluralistic Can confirm
Sorry, the app encountered an unexpected error
